2022/23 Bowl Game Discussion Thread

wanna bet?

we've heard every year since 2007 about how we backed into that game
Believe me, we definitely feel Bama backed in in 2011

personally, I hate the idea of expansion, because most years (every year?) there isn't even 4 teams worthy of a title.
and no i don't care how many 4 seeds have won it.
I've always found it silly to say a team backed in just because they lost late, a season is judged by the body of work, one half of football should not make or break a team's fortune.

they tried like hell to get them in again this year with that "would we be underdogs" phone call in bullshit

oh I agree 2007 was just a weird ass year and a complete anomaly. but you'd be surprised how many people (including our own fans) that minimize it.

yeah, it's going to suck
Tulane and Alabama do not deserve spots. And i really don't care what the results of their bowl games will be and that won't sway my opinion.

There's going to eventually be some funny year where we get 2 G5 teams in as "auto bids" because 1 P5 conference has a really bad champ. Since the 6 "highest rated conference champs" are assured spots.

Imagine some schlubby team like Troy or UTSA this year, who builds 11 wins against sad competition getting a auto spot in the playoff because the ACC throws out a 4 loss champ

I think it's funny that they will cry that a team "BACKED IN!" (Ohio State in this case) But still argue that a team like Bama, who really didn't handle their business (2 losses). Deserves to be in instead. Like they wouldn't be "backing in" if they got picked over us.

The argument of Bama's "STRONG FINISH!!!" is completely comical

They had to hold off a Ole Miss team that proved to be average, beat fucking Austin Peay and a horrible Auburn team.

Ohio State "finishes strong!" also if they had that lineup.

that's why the power 5 is all scrapping divisions.
so 8-4 (or even worse) teams will no longer even get to the title game to have a shot at an upset.

meaning y'all game vs *ichigan this year would not have mattered at all.
because y'all would be playing again the following week no matter who had won.

and for some reason a stupid large amount of the country is fucking celebrating this disaster we're heading into at full speed.

Big amount of that celebrating is coming from the fans of teams that can maybe make a 12 team playoff every so often but they know they are likely never making a 4 team playoff.

For some reason a lot of them think a 12 team playoff is going to "even out the recruiting field" and higher rated players are going to drift away from the more consistent powers because of it, which is hilarious and bad logic. (DFBIA is a fine example of this, they've been prime pushers of this theory)

Because yea, kids are going to start picking say NC State or UCLA over Bama/UGA/Ohio State because those schools might slip into the 12 team playoff a couple times a decade :lol::lol:

reminds me of USL fans.

they "legally" changed their names to University of Louisiana-Lafayette.
except the refuse to use the "Lafayette" part.

and I'm not kidding when i say the main reason why is because they feel being called "Louisiana" puts them on a more level playing field with Michigan, Texas, Alabama, Georgia, etc.

because seriously. it's been their name that's held them back :slappy:

that guy is a grizzled vet compared to the never attempted a forward pass guy Florida chucked out there.

UConn coach wishes he never attempted a pass with that first QB.

The pick six was comedy gold by the way. The QB tried to tackle the big boy who scored it 3 yards in the end zone and bounced off like he's been hit by a truck. Injury to insult.

all QBs combined in this game so far 14/35 120 yards

Uconn starting QB is now 3/15 with 2 INTs
