Gattis Quote
Submitted by UMich2016 on August 5th, 2021 at 9:07 AM

Gattis was interviewed recently during the Harbaugh Golf Classic. This quote got me fired up for the season.

"In our building, don’t come near it with a lighter because there’s enough fuel coming out of that building that we don’t need anything to try and push us anymore further. Our guys are fired up. If people say, hey man, what do you need to fuel you? We need nothing. All of what last year went through, it fueled us to this point. We’re motivated. We’re inspired. At the same time, we’ve got the biggest chip on our shoulder because the feelings that our players felt and the feelings our staff felt, we gotta take that out on somebody. That’s why we can’t wait until training camp to get here so we can start building this team for 2021."

The other notable quote he said was Blake Corum was one of the Top 3 most talented players on the team.

Also  thats NOT a good thing.

Corum showed massive flashes last season...recall that improvised end zone corner td run.... very impressive player.... appears the only talent we've gotten from Biff, too.

26 carries 77 yards big "flashes"

I like Gattis but this kind of chin wagging is meaningless hype and nothing more. It sure as hell doesn’t frighten our opponents.

Don is at least somewhat self aware.

The most hilarious part of this is that Gattis was gushing about the motivation, desire, inspiration, chip-on-their-shoulder attitude while at a fucking golf outing named for the head coach!!!

No one's ever questioned whether ttun can talk the talk; it's the other part they've struggled with. It does appear as though Gattis has now fully adopted the way of the "Michigan Man". I suppose its not a terrible strategy - run your mouth, exude confidence and maybe they'll give you an extension or a raise before you have a chance to prove how shitty your team is on the field.

So quitting on last season has your guys all fired up for this season. Got it.

Would Corum even make top 30 at Ohio State? Top 50?

Considering he would be the worst scholarship RB on the roster, no.

Demario McCall has had comparable rushing stats (plus more receiving to boot) in almost every season outside of 2020.

Att Yds Avg TD
49 270 5.5 3
14 111 7.9 1
8 50 6.3 0
18 122 6.8 2
1 12 12.0 0

(Sorry for the formatting, I’m not taking the time to clean it up.)

One of Corum's runs went for 15 yards too.

It's always good when 1 run is basically 20% of a players rushing yardage for the season. Take away that one off run and he's averaging 2.5 YPC.
