Pretty awesome if you ask me.....OL was very stout, we'll see how well NPF and Dwand stack up against the All-American DE of Oregon. Might even line up the TE against him (?). Expect Oregon to be a cut above Minny on D, and pretty even on O. Kudos to Day/Wilson/Hartline who seemed to make the correct adjustments at halftime, it worked out well. Doubt if we'll see as many 'home runs', but would bet vcash that there'll be ----three or four. The RB by committee did what it was supposed to do, keep fresh legs churning. Miyan's end sweep was a thing of beauty, haven't seen that since Parris Campbell made fools of the Xichigan D. Treyvion showed out why he was ranked #1 RB in nation, running by the Gophers like they were standing still. Master Teague is the plowhorse, and Miyan/Treyvion are the thoroughbreds. CJ first disappointed, then after some consult with Day, had some success, which built into the second half romp. The other three QBs will get their minutes after the Oregon game. Big risk is that CJ gets hurt w/o anyone else getting any game reps. Anyone else notice that CJ only did one or two designated runs? Day is trying to minimize the 'get-hurt' risk to CJ, I believe. Of course, the building block that made it all go is the Oline, who had what, only two 'hurries'? Good stuff, keep it up, and MAYBE some of us will start to believe in Coach Stud. agree with Buchtelgrad04 and others about the WRs getting involved, ANY opposing team not named Bama won't have enough quality DBs to cover all of tOSU's WRs successfully. Only saw one (?) target to Ruckert, great sort crossing route, good for a first down, but thought that Nijigba owned that territory? Not enough of them certainly. And game moved too fast for me to see if the WR #2's got any minutes, let alone catches. Maybe Day & Co was trying to build more cohesion with CJ and the WRs. We'll see how well Coach Day's plan worked when tOSU tees it up against the Ducks. Actually believe that the Buckeyes win by 21 (this time). Go Bucks!

IT'S NOT A LOT OF PLAYS. THEY (WILLIAMS AND HENDERSON) MADE SOME PLAYS AND DID A GOOD JOB AND DID WHAT THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO DO BUT IT'S HARD JUST OVER A HANDFUL OF PLAYS TO MAKE SOME HARD DECISIONS. BUT WE'RE GONNA DO THAT AND TRY TO FIGURE OUT WHAT'S BEST TO WIN THE GAME.

...

The second-half time of possession was probably the most hilariously misleading stat I've ever read because Ohio State basically just scored in like 45 seconds everytime it touched the ball and Minnesota did pretty much the opposite.

Regardless, that stat puts this offense in some insane company. Here are the games that round out of the top-five, courtesy of our own Matt Gutridge:
  • 2015 Virginia Tech – 10.2 yards per play
  • 2014 Wisconsin – 10.0 yards per play
  • 2005 Notre Dame – 9.6 yards per play
  • 2005 Michigan State – 9.4 yards per play
I remember all of those games vividly, and fondly. Mostly because those are pretty much all the games I've watched repeatedly on YouTube since they've been played, if you toss 2014 Alabama in there, too.

Cont'd ...

I wonder everyone's take on here about something... I noticed Rossi, Stover and even Donovan Jackson playing tight end last Thursday. My question is do any of you think that sort of takes away from our WR depth?

I can see it both ways. On one hand you get a better blocker than a typical WR but if we roll with more WRs that typically lightens the box which makes the better blocking player moot.

My preference is to get 3 WRs on the field as I think it gives us more options but I know we love our 12 personnel. Not only that but IMO ranking all players 1 through 24 or whatever that Harrison, Egbuka, Fleming and JSN are higher up than a few of our TEs. Really would like to see us spread the field vs OU and force their 265lb MLB into covering players. IMO 12 personnel may be something they prefer.

All I remember is that the players were playing their tails off and the coaches were screwing it up

When people say things like “a good Texas/USC/Michigan football team is good for college football,” I roll my eyes as hard as possible.

What’s undeniably good for college football, though? A halftime meltdown by a coach on his way to the locker room. It never fails. It’s just … *chef’s kiss*

A Domer / tsun fan (go figure… but it’s family ties to both) said that to me today in a slack discussion. It was during a conversation where I managed to work in YouTube clips of both Demar Dorsey (Oh Let Do It) and McGuffie getting sandwiched on that return. He suggested that a bad tsun team was bad for tOSU and the B1G.

I LOL’d him and said, based on TV viewership and performance at the national level it certainly hasn’t been bad for us…. And the money tOSU brings home from the post season also seems to be appreciated by the rest of the B1G.

Good job on the Umpire to fill the hole.

That’s a great pic. Anyone who’s ever called a game in a contact sport has probably had that, ‘holy shit I’m going to get hit’ moment. I know I have… and our positioning on the field during play in lacrosse is nowhere near as close to the action as it is in football.

But that’s a nice hole. I would have been good for three or four yards with a hole like that.
