I heard the guys on Letterman Row say Hilliard is done after this year, too many injuries to continue.
He should be gone, after all of those injuries he deserves a shot at the NFL. Why come back to OSU for free? We'll be fine at LB. Between Mitchell, Gant, Young, Pope and Simon we should have a replacement for Hilliard.

I could be wrong but I took it as done with football. Maybe they meant just at OSU
I think it was the Buckeyescoop podcast, but they said that he's going to head to the NFL due to all of his injuries. Doesn't want to risk another year in college. He's already on the Senior Bowl watch list, so I can see him getting an invite and earning a spot at the combine.

Another point of optimism that we could have going into 2021, is the DBs. It's not set in stone that Banks and Brown will be the CB starters. Due to the weirdness of the off season, I could see Cazavos and Watts having as good a shot along with the true frosh in Hancock and JK Johnson(especially if they enroll early). OSU brought in a great DB class for 2021, and most of them could see PT. IMO, Johnson could be the odd man out, has anyone seen anything from him this year? Because I haven't and he's had ample opportunities . Williamson could be the leader from the slot like Arnette was in 2019. And Ransom and Hickman I predict manning the 2 S positions.
But on the flip side, CLemson and Bama also have a ton of DB talent returning to their teams in 2021. I can't predict their starters, but they'll both trot out former 5 and 4star players to start.

He's also not going to look better with 2 green LBs, no Coop, possibly neither DT alongside him. OSU will be fine but he can't afford any uncertainty, and he'll be at his highest point if he follows up last game with another similar effort.

3. Losing Tommy Togiai, Tyreke Smith, Trey Sermon, and eventually Wyatt Davis didn't help, but even with those four healthy for the entire game there was a noticeable talent gap in favor of Alabama...

Regarding the future, this and the defensive scheme are my only concerns right now. Although I do feel like recruiting is about as good as one could hope, feels like Bama is always being chased. Amazes me that they lost 4 games last year. Even without Tua that seems absurd.

Very interested to see Stroud/Miller/McCord can do with normal practice and a deeper WR rotation. Feels like that really hampered the success the 2020 offense could have when the QB is only comfortable with 2.5 guys.

We for sure have to work on spreading the ball around...

We lose our top WR, our QB, top RB, and a few OL.

I think we will be deeper at WR next year and the OL should be good too. You have to hope Henderson takes over because Teague probably isn't a championship level starter but the RB is deep too. On offense it all depends how the QB plays obviously because everything else is there.

On defense....
DE- probably more explosive with losing only Cooper and then gaining another superstar like Sawyer.
DT- I actually expect both to return. I dont see why they'd turn pro when they could come back and put together a potential true season.
LB- lose a ton but then again we have a ton of guys waiting. I'll miss Werner Hilliard and Browning but I look forward to see what the others can do.
DB- everyone returns but Wade and we finally get replenished in recruiting too.

If we can be a run first team ala 2019 and set up easy throws early in 2021 that'll go a long ways for our season.

The team should be good though and provided we get by Oregon early we should roll again.

LB I expect we will get more atheletic but we will have to live with them making more mistakes as they learn

Probably overall... the starters will all be juniors next year though so it's not like they haven't played because most have. A few have even started a few games too...

I expect Tommy and Haskell back though... they were great but good enough for top 2 rounds? Not sure... DTs dont get drafted all that high without a dominant season.

How many days until spring practices, fall camp, and the 2021 season, etc.?.....

Just read a poster on another site that Haskell is coming back.
Has that been verified.

I’m not a huge fan of the tranny portal. It should be used sparingly and when the upgrade is clear and needed to cover for early departures. It has been great for us (Sermon, Justin, Jonah Jackson).

Having said that I wouldn’t be opposed to seeing the USC LB with the name I won’t try to spell and Haskell’s cousin on the roster next year.
He is violent.
