2021 NCAA Tournament, Brackets and games

Weird thing about March Madness is it can make good teams look bad. Happens a lot.

College basketball is just one of those things where the much larger sample size of the regular season barely matters as long as it gets you in the field of 68. Of course the larger sample size is still a much sounder way to try to judge the quality of teams. But perception wise, it's all about what happens in a single elimination tourney with a huge field in a sport with extreme parity.

A team like Oral Roberts wouldn't have even made the Dance if they played in the B1G. But now they are in the S16. It is what it is.

Definitely some truth in that but we're not talking about 1 or 2 teams flopping in the tournament. The B1G had 9 teams in the field. They'll do well to get 1 in the sweet 16.

Conversely the PAC 12 is showing very well across the board, not just 1 or 2 teams. Style of play seems to be a component here.

I do think there are some valid points to be made, though, about the B1G style and officiating and how that translates to the post-season.

Lot of posters have wanted Holtmann to recruit more size and play more through the interior to better match other B1G teams, but I think he needs to go the opposite direction and load up on speed and skill as much as possible (and if that can come with better length, great). Make it harder for B1G teams to guard you in transition and space (we saw that in the first half of the last Purdue game when Young was hitting 3s).

We had the offensive efficiency this season but not really the athleticism/pace to maximize our smaller ball advantages in conference.

Already have a lot of wing players on the roster. Need some guys to rebound and defend. Our recruiting class has 3 guys (including Méechie) who are not really interior players.

Sock says tough titty..... deal with it. Sock says stick with the encouraging fouls or 2 point conversion threads.
Sock also enjoys Oregon taking out overrated big ten teams in the tournament such as Michigan and Iowa.
Sock out!

ScriptOhio says....
