2021 CFB Playoff Discussion

It’s kinda wild but when you talk about resume vs potential there’s no way OSU shouldn’t be top 4.

Resume matters for sure. I just absolutely hate under current format they knock a team for losing in 25 degree weather with snow, and act like the playoffs in perfect conditions are somehow a good indicator of best team in nation.

What do you think the Vegas line woukd be on OSU vs Michigan in Indianapolis for example? I heard a handicapper today say they thought OSU would be around 10 point favorites.

It’s wild.
If OSU’s only loss was to TSUN, there would be a good chance of getting in, but the additional loss to Oregon kind of kills it.

If Cincy loses and the assumption is committee is going to hold Kelly not being there over ND head…..you really just need one of two things to happen:

Georgia curbstomp Bama which is entirely possible.

Baylor beating Okie State which is entirely possible.

That’s why I think 50%…but again, that is contingent on Houston pulling an upset which is extremely doubtful.

They won't push us over a 1-loss Notre Dame.
A conf champion Baylor will jump us.
A conf champion Oregon would jump us.

I'll be content to get a New Years bowl playing a decent team. That's where we slot this year.

@billmac91 isn't wrong.

I don't think we should be in the playoffs at all but look at the standings and remember they have to fill 4 slots.

  • OSU is currently the highest ranked 2 loss team
  • CFP has said the lack of a coach is a factor against 1 loss ND
  • If all three of UC, Okie State and Bama lose that opens up 2 spots imo
Who they choose to fill those two spots might not be OSU (nor do I want it to be) but there is a chance

they very well might but they also have to beat Utah to be that conference champ and that didn't go very well for them last time.

1 loss ND without a coach
1 loss mid major UC
2 loss Conf Champ Baylor
2 loss Bama
2 loss OSU

are your 5 competitors for two spots in the scenario we are discussing. It's not out of the realm of possibility.

I certainly don't think we're a team deserving of a playoff spot but it seems if enough chaos ensues, there's at least a slim chance of slipping into the fold.

While this is extremely unlikely, how amazing would it be to upset Georgia and take advantage of another crack at the maggoty fuck sticks up north for all the marbles. That would make the sting of last Saturday go away real quickly.

Yes, there is a scenario:

- Georgia beats Alabama 59-0, decapitating Bryce Young in the 3rd quarter (the 15-yd penalty on the play being the only Bama 1st down of the game)
- Utah beats Oregon
- UC loses 35-6 to Hou
- Entire ND offensive line enters the transfer portal because they only want to play for Kelly

Only way I would want OSU in the playoffs is if we could play tun in the first round.

I think OSU would win out over ND at this point but who knows.

If OSU did get in, it's as the 4 seed and another brutal, physical fisting is coming our way, this time from UGA which is why I don't want them to get in.

If UC and Bama lose then tsun gets fucking Baylor more than likely. If UC doesn't lose, they represent the obstacle to tsun. It's a fucking pathetically weak year.

Baylor's not jumping shit. .5 rating vs a 5.0 rating by having OSU in vs Baylor. Not even a close call for them.
