2021 CFB Playoff Discussion

ND fetish may be right, but answer me this: can Ohio State, Michigan, Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, Texas, USC, Oregon, or even Clemson, get into the playoffs without playing and winning a CCG? Can any other team take their TV/bowl money without sharing with the rest of their conference?

None of this gets much air time and yet I have a hard time believing that conference members view those facts favorably.

To be fair, Alabama and Ohio State have done just that already.

BYU, but they just agreed to give that up.

I was hoping things would shake out to just 4 major conferences, and the CCGs would be round 1 of an 8-team playoff.

You may well be right. Giving up Buckeye football may be something I can't do. It's so connected to family, friends, and my college years that the roots are too deep. But much of that association is also connected to the family of midwest public colleges called the Big Ten. Expansion seems to be taking dead aim at conferences, rivalries, and history to provide us with a "true" national champion from a group of semi-professional teams loosely connected to colleges.
Yeah, that's not an option. Who even thinks of that kind of self torture?

If this alliance actually holds up you could see 3 conferences stonewall at a 4 team playoff with conference champ as a requirement. Sec would try so hard to jettison okie and Texas.
Just a dream I sometimes have.

I don't understand what seems to have become an assumption - that Bama can lose twice and get a bid.

I don't understand how people can see how committee has operated and assume a 2-loss Bama wouldn't get a lot of excuses.
I kind of forget OU b/c it just seems like a 2nd loss in the cards, same as Oregon previously.
We've seen similar results before. Bama lost their division, lost their rivalry game, and by skipping the SECCG got into the playoffs over an undefeated MidMajor.
Committee will have a hard time giving it to ND over Cinci. But it's very easy for them to make Bama the first 2-loss over Cinci if that game is close.
Cinci is bad for ratings, and bad for ESPN's propaganda (which drives their longterm investments via season-to-season ratings).

I “liked” this because I think that it is correct, not because it is the right thing to do.

I hope the tide gets rolled up and Okie or The ‘Boys win two in a row. Little faith in Stanford. I’d like to see Cincy win out and get in, with us playing them in the semis.

I absolutely disagree, and lord knows I'm no juggalo lover. The first G5 team that gets in will be a huge ratings draw. There's the novelty factor. There's the fact that every G5 honk in the country will adopt them. There's the angle, if they play Ohio State, of big brother versus little faygo swilling retarded brother.

Now, after a couple of G5's get in and get fisted by the Bamas and Ohio States of the world, you'll definitely see a huge drop off in interest for them being in. This year, however, the juggalos will fuck.

If Bama loses today, they'll probably drop to 5 in the rankings.

Buckeyes drop to 11th most likely with the loss, on the road, in the snow, to #5 team.

We dont deserve to go after this mess but let's say everyone else loses, including Notre Dame. Could the Bucks slide back up to 4th or 5th after? Even losing I dont see the teams that are going to be in front of us beating us on a playoff field. Freaking wasted championship caliber Offensive talent with shit Defense

Probably finish around 6. Looks like rose bowl bound.
