2021-2022 Ohio State Men's Basketball

Ohio State men’s basketball coach Chris Holtmann will unveil his 2021-22 team with an exhibition game against the University of Indianapolis, an NCAA Division II program, at 7 p.m. tonight at Value City Arena.

Tickets are also available -- for as low as $5 for resale and $10 for standard tickets -- via the OSU ticket website.

Just sayin': The game isn't on "free TV"; however, the tickets to the game are really cheap. If my granddaughter wasn't coming over later today (after school) to spend the night, I might consider driving over and see the game.

Reading the tea leaves, I'd say Sotos and Russell are not going to see a lot of key minutes this season. Wheeler, Meechie, Ahrens, Gene, and Branham are all seemingly ahead of them in the perimeter group. Plus Sueing is a swing who will be out there as well.

  • Kyle Young, Seth Towns and Justice Sueing were all unavailable for the Buckeyes. Young is out indefinitely with a vestibular dysfunction and Towns is expected to make his season debut in December following a procedure on a herniated disc in his back during the offseason. Sueing said this past Friday that the groin injury he finished the 2020-21 season with was taken longer than expected to heal.
  • Jamari Wheeler, Meechie Johnson, Justin Ahrens, E.J. Liddell and Zed Key started the game for the Buckeyes. Indiana transfer Joey Brunk was the first man off the bench.

JUSTICE SUEING EXPECTED TO BE AVAILABLE FOR OHIO STATE'S SEASON OPENER, KYLE YOUNG TO BE A GAME-TIME DECISION

Chris Holtmann expects at least one of his two banged-up captains to be available for Tuesday's season opener against Akron.

The Ohio State head coach said Monday that fifth-year senior forward Justice Sueing, who did not play in last week's exhibition against Indianapolis, is expected to be available "as long as his practice today goes well." Sueing has been dealing with a lower-leg injury since the end of last season.

Fifth-year senior forward Kyle Young, who was diagnosed with a vestibular dysfunction in October, will be a game-time decision.

"We need to see just more progression from him," Holtmann said. "I think there's certainly more doubt right now on Kyle's availability than Justice."

They pick Akron to finish 6th in the MAC. Groce always has overachievers under him but the starts haven't been blistering and they've stumbled out of the gates a few times. Let's hope they dont hit their stride until December and we end up with a quality win by 20 points or more!
