2021-2022 Ohio State Men's Basketball

Three point shooting has nose dived in January conference games. I have to attribute some of that to the Covid since they weren't even practicing, but it has to get fixed.

Indiana - 8 for 27 (29%) - lost
Northwestern - 11 for 25 (40%) - won
Wisconsin - 3 for 19 (16%) - lost
Penn State - 3 for 12 (25%) - won (Bucks had a 36-14 FT advantage)
Minnesota - 7 for 27 (26%) - won (Bucks killed them on the boards, 48-22)
Purdue - 9 for 29 (31%) - lost (Bucks were 5 for 25 before hitting their last 4 to tie the game late and get to over 30%)

Can't make a living in the B1G shooting under 30% from downtown. You may overcome it against lesser teams by doing other things but the good ones will beat you.

For the most part, Ohio State’s stars played their role. Despite a shaky performance for much of the day, E.J. Liddell finished with 20 points, and Malaki Branham – who is still growing into a star – had the exact same total. Both were instrumental late in a second-half comeback that saw the Buckeyes go from down 20 to tied up with Purdue in the final 14 minutes.

"CERTAINLY SOME GUYS NEED TO PLAY BETTER. WE NEED TO HELP THEM, AS COACHES, PLAY BETTER."– OHIO STATE HEAD COACH CHRIS HOLTMANN

The Buckeyes even received the benefit of some unexpected production from a couple of bench players, as Cedric Russell and Eugene Brown combined to score 18 points, with all but two of those coming in the second half.

The aforementioned four players scored 41 of Ohio State’s 48 second-half points during the Buckeyes’ frenzied comeback, but the list of players that put up the other seven may be a bit worrisome for the scarlet and gray. Zed Key, Jamari Wheeler, Justin Ahrens, Meechie Johnson and Kyle Young – all starters for the Buckeyes at one point or another this season – went a collective 2-for-7 in the final 20 minutes, tallying just three rebounds and three assists.

Ok, now its starting to feel like a conspiracy. Team beats Duke and the rest of the conference says, "Oh shit, maybe they are good this year after we thought they'd fold. Let's duck em like michigan." Couple fuck ups in the testing office and we get Covid for a minute. Then other teams find ways not to play to keep breaking up the continuity. I can smell it in the air.

WTF, you're kidding? This can't be a real thing.
Nope. It appears Iowa was caught by surprise by inclement weather happening in the Midwest in February.

Hope they make up the game ASAP. It would be unfair to let one B1G team unilaterally decide to not play a game that had been scheduled for several months because they have to travel through inches of snow.
