What's this bullshit?Tough loss tonight.
But it came down simply to this:
Auburn 14 blocks
LSU 2 blocks
Reid and Fudge had zero presence. Yeah we turned it over 17 times but Auburn turned it over 21 times. 14 blocks at close ranged realistically prevented 14 points. We lost by 15. We don’t match up well with Auburn. Pinson fouling out and Murray not playing explains the rest.
We knew shooting, turnovers, and post play were our biggest weaknesses, those 3 all showed in a big way.
We shot HORRIBLY and although shooting will never be a staple of this team it usually won’t be that bad. We made a TON of pointless crucial turnovers including THREE IN A ROW when we were down 6 with ~9 minutes left in what I think was the most crucial part of the game. Although we are young and will be prone to bad turnovers, we will learn from that stretch and it will get better. That Kessler kid is a god at blocking shots, his timing is unreal, most teams won’t be able to do that and we will be able to get to the rim more which will open up the offense.
The defense played GREAT, the fact that it was a close game up until the last few minutes is a testament to the defense and the fact that the players fought every second. We easily could’ve folded and been blown out.
We played a very good team on the road and despite all of that we still competed and had a chance to win if we make a few more big plays instead of big mistakes.
Yes it sucks to lose but there are a lot of positives to take away, if we can learn from our miscues, control the ball, keep playing defense, and for the love of god shoot better we can win games like that.
It’s going to be a long week until the Kentucky game for those guys. But take care of Kentucky and Tennessee at home and this game is forgotten. LSU wasn’t going to win every game. They can improve from this and will get better.
GEAUX TIGERS!
