Imagine your program being so stagnant over a two-decade period that you’ve resorted to playing the “what-if game” so frequently.
And honestly all it did was irritate me; t forced me to play what if and I thought of Hamby.
Goddamnit
Even funnier that "what if" game is a prime example of Harbaugh's incompetency in big games. Ohio State was doing all they could to hand them that game, and they could not seize it.
Meanwhile, scUM still only has 2 commits in the 2021 class
One is a 5* (QB JJ McCarthy)
but out of the current uncommitted 5 stars they have zero favorable crystal ball action.
Uncommitted top 100 Rocco Spindler is the only one they have favorable Crystal Ball action for (though Edwards may end up there as well)
Right now 4 top 100 seems like their best case scenario.
Ohio State currently has 9.
The gap continues to widen.
Counterpoint:
That was Jimmy's last, best shot at playing OSU with equal talent. He had a SR laden team, recruited by Hoke, playing a young OSU team and missed his chance.
Paradigm shifting isn't going to change the talent gap that has revealed itself over the past 3 editions of The Game. You know there is a talent gap when one team plays as well as it can and can hang with the other for about a half. Then, if there is any misstep whatsoever, talent gaps reveal themselves by the more talented team blowing the doors off the plucky, lesser talented team who kept it as close as they could for as long as they could.

Maybe I am just a homer but I see a trend here and looking at 2021 recruiting, it's only getting worse.
In conclusion, to paraphrase the economists, it's the talent gap stupid.
Ohio State was not just young, but very down in talent on the offensive side of the ball:That was Jimmy's last, best shot at playing OSU with equal talent. He had a SR laden team, recruited by Hoke, playing a young OSU team and missed his chance.
Yes. 1000%Ohio State was not just young, but very down in talent on the offensive side of the ball:

In 2016, Michigan had an all-time great defense (four future 1st round picks) and Ohio State had a subpar offense (Curtis Samuel and nothing else). In fact, it's safe to say that the Buckeyes will not have an offense that devoid of talent for the foreseeable future.
2016 was the best case scenario for Michigan, yet Ohio State still prevailed.
That or we have game like PSU this year where we kept trying to hand them the game. Weather and turnovers are the great equalizer.Yes. 1000%
That was their shot and they blew it. They will never be that close again as far as talent goes for quite some time now.
Only way they have a competitive game for the near future is if we keep dinged up or we lose multiple players early to the pros while they get everyone to return. Even then it'll still be really hard for them to win.

Their helmets have wangs. What would possess a 5* qb to even consider it at this point?
Entering year 6 with no light at the end of the tunnel.
Some of the worst QB development in D1.
Cant even say 'playing time', because Harbaugh will go dumpster diving for a transfer every year...
