Yep. You get to play turds like OU and Texas. It's like being in the SEC....you beat fraudulent teams and people act like you climbed Everest.

Lower expectations and higher chance of success. That may not drive the entire decision but it has to be a part of it.

The other part that a coach will think of is the logistics and natural footprint of recruiting. If you are a sane HC at tsun, you have to go fight OSU for Ohio kids and supplant that low probability event with a ND-like national recruiting approach, without the help of the catholic HS feeder system. That's a very difficult recruiting hill to climb.

Now throw in the fact the program has lost 3-4 games a year with stunning consistency for the last 40 years and again, I don't know that it's the destination job that some think it is.

Trouble is turds define the Big 10 any close game is treated as a loss for OSU.

Spoke to one of my Michigan buddies last night who happens to be a bit of an insider with the alumni crowd.

While "happy" wouldn't be the right word they are satisfied. Nine wins a year, keeping the program clean and the revenue stream is strong.

They are fully aware that you can't keep swinging and missing or you end up like Nebraska after letting Pellini go.

We should all be able to relate to that having watched our program go south once we fired Cooper.

Explanation for the lack of a contract extension per him is just "that's Jimmy".
