2020 Team Discussion Thread

So...does Day know how to build a lead and then have no idea what to do after that? Seems to be a trend this year.

He's ultimately responsible but to me that's on the players, player leadership and coach Mick to go figure out/fix.

Feels like you have a team that assumes the other guys are just going to quit once they show them how much better OSU is. That is, if accurate, quite obviously a false assumption.

Good news is you can pretty easily build leads like that/dominate in stretches. Need to channel some Kobra Kai and sweep some damn legs.

Fleming cannot have more tackles than Zack Harrison..he isn’t getting that many snaps... I can’t figure it out .
Harrison knocked Penix’s arm just before it was coming forward, on the play that probably should have been a sack/fumble for him with a Buckeye recovery. Replay surprisingly ‘confirmed’ the incomplete pass.

They're just 12-3-1 in 16 quarters of play. Unacceptable. Fans demand an explanation:
  • Is there a team on the schedule where winning the 4th quarter will matter?
  • Are the Buckeyes talented enough offensively to stay so glorpy in pass defense?
  • Will we appreciate non-conference MAC opponent tune-up games more in the future?
  • Is this something you chalk up to a zombie football season being played in a pandemic?
  • Ohio Stadium gets notoriously sleepy in walk-through games - is completely empty too sleepy?
Entropy has reigned supreme in the later stages of Ohio State's non-Cornhusker victories, and damn it - people are entitled to understand why the Buckeyes are allowing chunk plays after losing Jeff Hafley to Boston College, Jeff Okudah, Jordan Fuller, Damon Arnette to the NFL, Amir Riep and Jahsen Wint to expulsion, Brendon White and Isaiah Pryor to transfer and Cameron Brown to injury. Why has this secondary taken a step back in only one season? This is shocking.

I laugh at blaming the fans for being disappointed in a teams performance ... the coaches with stuff like we have improved here, we will sack , on and on and the program has “hype” videos. I’m old went to school in the 70’s .. no one was hyped ..Archie was a “fine young man”, Tatum was ok but he missed tackles,Gradishar knows his assignments. We barely thought we had a good team till the All conference and all Americans were announced . No matter if it was 56 to 0 something bad may happen ..it shaped the way I look at teams. I watched the 75 Michigan game and Archie had less Buckeye leaves then our special teamers Lol

Now that I have had some more time to think about the COVID outbreak inside the team I think it's going to cause someone or group of someone's a lot of trouble.

It seems pretty clear that this happened inside the WHAC, not from playing an infected team. Therefore it had to come from a protocol breach. They will trace it and figure out, internally at least, who it was.

That person(s) could have a lot of people, who made a lot of sacrifices, very pissed off at them if it's a case of something really selfish/immature.

The lack of leaks is amazing ...Day and Smith should be doing seminars for Govt agencies.

Selfish/immature college students:confused:...

My niece is a sophomore at Miami(OH) and her and her roommate tested positive for COVID-19. A week into their quarantine they thought it was a good idea to go to Walmart to get a few things and not bother their friends, smh. What they didn't tell my sister in law and her husband is that they also decided to get their nails done(parents found out through bank statement online). Not exactly happy parents and yet the kids were still clueless.

I'm actually surprised that there haven't been more outbreaks on CFB teams. Especially you know with hormones, peer pressure, boredom, etc

No return date set for Ohio State activities
While the Buckeyes won’t travel to play at Illinois this weekend, they didn’t rule out the possibility of playing at Michigan State next Saturday. Programs in the Big Ten that have shut down — Wisconsin and Maryland — both wound up missing two games.

But the Buckeyes feel like the possibility of returning to the athletic facility in the coming days is possible of testing results come back negative and the proper protocols are followed.

“It’s kind of fluid, frankly,” Smith said. “We’re going to have to go day-by-day, see where we are today and test again tomorrow, see what we have with tests tomorrow. So it’s going to be day-to-day. I wish I could say it’s Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, but I really can’t. We’re going to have to [be patient], because there’s too much uncertainty here. We’re just going to have to look at each day and see what we got.”

Ryan Day believes it is possible to practice Thursday, go through a walk-through on Friday and be ready to play by next Saturday. That means the game at Michigan State is not off the table — yet.

Not really a valid comparison. The guys in a major P5 football program aren't like regular college kids.

They have a higher level of responsibility to their teammates and they weren't drafted, they volunteered so any breech (if there actually was one) would be a lot worse among the players/brotherhood imo.

Exactly how I saw it and still do... we were fine Sunday, Monday and then Tuesday. So somewhere in the WHAC someone broke protocol and I would guess more than 1 person based in how many positives we've had.
