We really have no idea at this point. It's a global pandemic, could have gotten in via any number of ways.
Also seeing that IU had a bunch of guys out so it could have started then as well. The delay makes you wonder but just because we didn't hear about any positive tests early in the week doesn't mean there weren't any.
Not really worth worrying about "how" imo, just where do they go from here.

Those saying OSU really wants 6 games are 100% correct. There is a huge focus right now on getting passed the finish line this week, with understanding Michigan game is likely off. If we can get a W on road against MSU, and then handle business against Wisconsin in our cross-over game, 6-0 is easily enough (to get in CFP).
5-0 leaves too many shenanigans to be played with these CFP chumps, although I think OSU would win out based on ratings power.
If by chance we get to play MSU this weekend, don't be greedy. A win under these circumstances, would be very solid. Very odd preparation week where you are leaning heavy on the experienced guys like Cooper, Werner, Wade, Fields, our O-line....they'll need to step up and basically win the game on fundamentals and talent.

An Ohio State spokesperson said Monday afternoon that players who are not quarantined or in isolation due to positive COVID-19 tests returned to the Woody Hayes Athletic Center for small group workouts on Monday.
All team meetings are still being conducted virtually.
While it remains uncertain whether the Buckeyes will be on track to play at Michigan State on Saturday, as an Ohio State spokesperson said there was no further news to share as of now, it's a step in the right direction that Ohio State determined it was safe enough for players to return to workouts less than 72 hours after team activities were paused on Friday night due to an increase in positive cases.
Ohio State has not specified how many players have tested positive or whether there have been any additional positive cases since Friday, though it is known that at least 13 Tier I individuals in the program – which includes 120 players and 50 coaches and other staff who are around the team regularly – have tested positive, including Ryan Day, as team doctor Jim Borchers said Saturday that the team had gone above the 7.5% population positivity threshold.

How are players under the 21 day quarantine handled in regards to the testing?
If a player under quarantine is now testing negative, do they fall off as a player who is positive, or do they remain a positive bc they are in quarantine? It'd make a huge difference obviously. I suspect any OSU players who tested positive last week, and still testing positive as of today/tomorrow. So how does that impact the percentages?
Do they maintain a baseline of the available players (so those now testing negative but in 21 day protocol are not counted) and you need to keep a percentage healthy among your available players?
I think it'd be kind of shitty if guys who are testing negative now, are labeled as positives, only bc they're within the 21 day quarantine period.

I’m sure I’ll be corrected if I’m wrong here, but you actually can continue to test positive long after you are no longer contagious-so it actually works the opposite of the way you might be thinking.

I just want to know if a kid who tested positive, but then tests negative.....how are they treated within the percentages of negative vs positive players?
It’s critical to whether we play on Saturday or not. For example, if 2-3 players now test negative (but are in 21 day quarantine) do they decrease the baseline of positive tests since they’re now negative?
Id appreciate a good breakdown if someone knows.

Two different categories.
Both involve the whole program not just players.
First category is percentage of people currently positive. So if a player no longer has coronavirus, but is still needing to isolate, they are now counted as negative.
Second category is percentage of tests that are positive. This was never exceeded by Ohio State. You take every single positive test done found over the past week, and divide it into every test. This number is actually not getting as high as people may have thought, because there are just so many negatives tests, and retests every day, that the percentage stays low.
To make it easy math wise. Let’s say a 100 player team has 8 players that are currently positive. The population positive rate is 8%, red.
Now let’s say everyone took 7 tests in the last week. 92 of the players all had 7 negative tests. The 8 players total had 14 positive tests and the rest of their tests in the past week we’re negative (possible because they were tested many times before getting virus). The positive percentage of tests would be 2%, which would be in the green zone.
This is why no school has been forced to shut down yet; it’s actually pretty hard. Although I think Minnesota may be at that point because they have COVID issues which seem to be way beyond anything any other school has. 47 positive cases in last 10 days. It took that level to actually shut it down.

Obviously a very strange virus...a coworker of mine had it and tested positive 2 months after she was better, not contagious, and back at work. My wife and I both just had it and I was allowed out of quarantine per CDC guidelines 10 days after my symptoms started and WHILE I STILL HAD SYMPTOMS.
