2020 B1G Season - Starts Oct. 23/24

I've got a strong feeling that Wisky beats Indiana this weekend. When that happens every team in the East Division will have at least 2 losses and the Buckeyes will have 0 losses. If they say Indiana still goes to the CCG after Ohio State beat them head up and they have another loss, they need to go off somewhere and get fragged. That will be the stupidest shit I've ever seen and there's been a lot.

So either Kevin Warren demonstrates intellectual flexibility then makes a quick, effective decision or you are getting ready to see the stupidest shit you've ever seen?

I'd get my popcorn and be ready to watch some stupidity as a 2 loss IU team goes to Indy as the B1G East champ, sans Pinnix, while an undefeated team in his own conference (that beat IU head to head) sits at home watching and hoping it doesn't cost them a playoff bid.

Send me some popcorn in jail then. I'm likely to burn the BiG offices down in this case.

Lots of smoke the conference changes their stance on the 6 game minimum quickly. As fucked up as the B1G has been this year, they're not going to miss on a chance at the revenue if Ohio State can't play next week for some reason. Bottom line for me is that I don't see a universe where we don't play at all next week and get held out because of it after we played today and dominated with so many key players out.

Report: Big Ten likely to change 6-game minimum rule

The Big Ten is likely to change its 6-game minimum rule to qualify for the Big Ten Championship Game, per a report from Brett McMurphy of Stadium, via Twitter. Ohio State is ranked No. 4 in the College Football Playoff and the Buckeyes moved to 5-0 with a 52-12 win over Michigan State on Saturday. They have a home game scheduled against Michigan next Saturday (noon ET; FOX). However, the Wolverines (2-4) are dealing with COVID-19 concerns in their program and canceled their scheduled game against Maryland on Saturday.

Here is the tweet from McMurphy:

It reads in full: "B1G ADs will likely change B1G title game requirements to allow 5-0 Ohio State in title game if it can't play 6th league game, sources told Stadium. But it won't be an easy decision, source said. A win in B1G tite game would all but guarantee Buckeyes a spot in the CFB Playoff."

The Big Ten Championship Game will be Dec. 19 in Indianapolis. The College Football Playoff will reveal its four-team field the following day at 12 p.m. ET.

Bucknuts will have more on this developing story.

Just sayin': Hopefully his source wasn't Sir Yacht.....:biggrin2:

Back to my post of November 30th:

If TTUN cancels for 12/12, here are the games this week:

Saturday, Dec. 12
Michigan at Ohio State | 12 p.m. | CANCELLED
Wisconsin at Iowa
Michigan State at Penn State
Minnesota at Nebraska
Illinois at Northwestern
Purdue at Indiana
Rutgers at Maryland

If Wiscy, Iowa, Nebraska, NW’ern, Indiana, or Rutgers cancels, we could play one of these on 12/12:

Iowa
Wiscy
Minny
Illinois
Purdue
Maryland

That could get us to 6 games. Also, the commissioner could break up the Rutgers-Maryland game and have tOSU play Maryland this week, even without a Rutgers cancellation.

Interesting choice, I think Gene Smith would try to play for the B1G Championship, rather than try to play TTUN on 12/19. which might be an unpopular move. But if TTUN isn’t able to play on 12/12, there’s no guarantee they’d be available 12/19. So it’s probably the smart move.

They could try to squeeze The Game in on 12/26, but that only leaves 5 open days before the CFB semi-final bowls on Jan 1st, so I don’t think they’d try to do that.

If Illinois and TTUN both cancel on 12/12, I don’t think the B1G would let us play the CCG on 12/12 with NW’ern, and then play TTUN on 12/19, but that’s a remote possibility.
