i think it was neither right nor wrong to go for 2 there. outcome doesn't justify the decision. it didn't work, but you're unranked on the road. the play call was good; the qb just didn't make the pass.

Coaches get that late TD, get excited, and make an emotional decision to go for two.
All that work, 30 minutes of football to catch up, and you put it all on one play. It doesn't make sense to me, even on the days when a team converts it.

Doesn't really matter.
CFP just saw you lose to K state and survive a 1 point game with ISU. Defense gave up 40+ in both.
OU isn't getting into the CFP.

again, i don't think it was a so-called wrong decision just because it didn't work out. going for it on the road when you're unranked versus a top 10 is mostly standard. something else to consider is that isu's kicker is not very good. he's 3/7 this season in kicks over 30 yards. last year, he was 8/15.

Ooooooh I see what you mean then. Yeah, definitely would've liked to see him not have tunnel vision there. I think the play design there was weird too. Usually those plays have a much more obvious primary receiver and a way to get them wide open for an easy throw. That play was just flooding the short side of the field with 3 guys. Not as easy to diagnose quickly under pressure.

The odds definitely not in favor going for two. It makes a great story if it work, but there’s no logical reason unless your players are spent. Instead of basically requiring a touchdown to win it, you kick it then get 4 tries to get it in the end zone (if you want).
