2019 NCAA Basketball Tournament Discussion (Official Thread)

Belmont is trash. Mid-major advocates got their wish, and as a result a team that does not play defense is in the tournament.

We can't play offense and they let us in, and besides: Belmont lost 73-62 at Purdue. Bucks lost 86-51 at Purdue.

We're lucky we're not in Dayton.

Belmont lost, yes they lost the one game they played versus a good team all season, when that other team was not playing their best basketball. Now compare how they both fared against a bad UCLA team. Belmont barely won, OSU won going away. I don't doubt OSU is actually better than Belmont, and probably some power conference teams that were left out were better basketball teams that just played tougher schedules.

There are a few higher level teams in the tourney with worse offenses than us (using KenPom's Adjusted offense efficiency rankings)

Kansas State
Washington
Oregon
VCU
Temple (Belmont's opponent ironically)

tied with Seton Hall and Oklahoma is barely better

Eh in this particular year i'd rather see Belmont than teams like Indiana, TCU & Alabama who were amongst the first out

I believe TCU, Alabama, Texas, Clemson and NC State are all probably better than Belmont. I think they are all better than Temple, too.

Therein lies the debate - "better" or deserving?

Hell, why don't we just take 12 teams from each power conference and call it a day? I can't wait to see 11-21 Illinois battle 14-20 WVU. After all, they've got wins over Ohio State, Maryland, Kansas, and Oklahoma between them. Sure, they shit the bed a combined 41 times but look at those wins!

Here a good place for my little rant. Channeling my inner Valenti. How in the hell does MSU not get a 1 seed. You win the B1G regular season and conference tournament and get a 2 seed in Duke’s region? Bullshit.

Valenti didn’t want to whine about not getting a 1 seed. I’ll whine. He was fine with a 2 seed but just not okay with the region and path to the Final Four they got. I’m not okay with them getting a 2 seed. You can tell me that the other 1s were deserving but not more than MSU.

Probably 2 losses to Indiana and 1 to Illinois.
