2019-2020 Ohio State Men's Basketball (Official Thread)

Looking at this site...I don't think Ohio State can get the 4 seed due to the tie breakers....it looks like the 5th seed is the best we can hope for...

and the "best we can hope for" would be a worse situation. as a 5-seed, we're almost certainly playing minnesota in our first game. while it would be nice to beat minnesota for the sake of denying the sweep, they present fundamental problems for us, especially if young doesn't play. moreover, if osu loses the first game, then i'd rather see them lose to a probable tourney team (rutgers) than a non-tourney team.

edit: something else to consider is that beating rutgers (net #31) would be another quad 1 win. minnesota is currently #46 in the net rankings. if osu beats them, they might drop down to a quad 2 win (net #51-100).

listening to yesterday's wtvn basketball podcast with matt mccoy and tony white. caller calls in. paraphrasing:

"i think we're better playing without dj carton. let me tell you a little about myself. i played high school basketball in the 1960s. i played under (insert some guy no one has heard of). carton came to college only concerned about getting to the nba after one season. he's not mentally strong enough to run our team. what we should do is have andre wesson run point and put ahrens in the corner. and then we should..."

humans were a mistake.

Sounds like the OSU twin of that Pedster dude who objected to tattooed non-clean cut players.

in 7 of our last 8 games, we've shot no worse than 79% from the free throw line. that doesn't happen without great conditioning, which is tremendous testimony to a team that is currently 7-deep -- or even 6-deep as we saw against illinois. and great conditioning in march doesn't happen without great conditioning in july, august, and september. such work ethic bodes well for next season, especially if we retain as many players as possible.

If anyone wants to check my math. If Ohio State loses to Michigan State we can still get the #6 seed if Iowa wins or Michigan wins through a series of tie breakers.

If Iowa and Michigan lose we get #7 seed I believe.

A win and will be either #5 or #6 pending what Iowa does.
