2018 Way-Too-Early College Football Polls

Let me show you what Kyler Murray brings to our offense.

Does he bring a strongly worded memo to Lincoln suggesting that "hey, maybe we should feed our tailbacks when they're dominating?"

Or will they stick with the cute Riley offense that cost you a NC? You know the one.

We held UGA to a FG in OT and will head to the NC if we get a TD. Anderson just picked up more quality yardage on a 1st down carry. They'll be expecting us to keep riding him, so let's never hand him the ball again!

- Jet sweep to WR
- jet sweep to TE, which ended predictably
- whoops, guess we'll settle for the FG
- OMG two QBs, the defense will lose their mind. Except we didn't do anything clever, we just ran a simple speed option with a 170 lb pitch back that wasn't about to lower his shoulder.
- Now we're behind the downs, I know, let's dump it off to Anderson 3 yds behind the LOS against Roquan. That will end well.
- Now we're even further behind the sticks, so I guess we'll run yet another play behind the LOS, so that when Brown dances his way for 8 yds after the catch, he's still 5 yards short.
- Another FG.
- and UGA waltzes in for the win

bet the house on ttun covering -2. notre dame has lost a ton on offense and what they return on that side isn't all that special. there are major question marks at running back, wide receiver, and the left side of the line. on top of that, wimbush hasn't exactly been an accurate quarterback. and then there is ttun. unfortunately, i think they're going to be very, very good if the line can be at least adequate protecting patterson. all in all, the domers will struggle mightily to score, and the skunkbears just need to limit turnovers. i'll be surprised but happy if harbro's team wins by fewer than 14 points. if they lose, well, i'm pretty sure the euphoria will render me catatonic.

I wouldn't touch this game with a 10 foot pole on the betting side.

Hairball has proven to not do well against teams with a pulse. On the flip side we have no idea if ND has a pulse (They did lose a lot especially at RB and WR production) this year. I still expect them to be better than Florida was last year however. So we will see. Wimbush hasent been the most accurate, but Patterson has majorly crapped the bed on occasion as well.

OU being better on offense without Mayfield is a fairly hard sell, there, RC.

On the other hand..... I guess I know quite a few Buckeye fans who are giddy a certain record setting QB finally moved on.

Until he moved onto what is many Buckeye fan's NFL team =/

Patterson against P5 opponents last year: 9 TD / 8 int.
Mind that includes a 4-0 day against the mighty Vanderbilt Commodores.
Against ranked opponents: 2 TD / 5 Int.

If scUM is depending on Shea to not the turn the ball over, they should have got a different transfer QB.

not turning the ball over =/= limiting turnovers

Usually that is what people mean, but OK.
What's the limit? 1? 2? 3?

We haven't even discussed his 5 fumbles in those games last year.

He had 3 interception and 1 fumble against Cal
2 interceptions and 1 fumble against Bama
2 fumbles against Auburn
0 interceptions and fumbles against Vanderbilt
3 interceptions and 1 fumble against LSU

.... so please let me know which among those games would have qualified for successfully "limiting turnovers".
I'd say Vanderbilt; but that's just me. As bad as Domers may be next year, I'm not sure they'll be Vanderbilt bad.

College football power rankings: Bama-Clemson, Round IV?

1. Alabama

i

The runaway favorites in the SEC, the defending champion Crimson Tide could have one of their most explosive offenses in years with tons of depth at running back and receiver, led by Damien Harris. The question is: Who plays quarterback? Whether it's Tua Tagovailoa, Jalen Hurts or some combination of the two, Nick Saban's squad should put up points. The defense, however, could be a relative work in progress with four new starters in the secondary and already a major loss at linebacker (Terrell Lewis). But don't expect anyone to feel sorry for Saban's latest collection of five-stars. -- Alex Scarborough

2. Clemson
i

Ever since Christian Wilkins, Austin Bryant and Clelin Ferrell announced they would come to Clemson for their senior seasons, the Tigers have been a favorite to play for yet another national championship. And with good reason. The three defensive linemen team with junior tackle Dexter Lawrence to form the best defensive line in the country, a veteran unit that has embraced the high expectations and leadership on what is now a veteran team. While there is some uncertainty at quarterback, there is no doubt this position is in much better shape with Kelly Bryant back and ESPN 300 talent Trevor Lawrence onboard. Expect both to play. The depth at running back is stellar, and receiver Tee Higgins is a star in the making. If Clemson lives up to its vast potential, chances are high it will be back in the championship mix come January -- Andrea Adelson

3. Ohio State
i

The Buckeyes are once again the team to beat in the Big Ten. Nick Bosa will headline a defensive front that is once again loaded despite losing three draft picks from last year's group. A mature group of receivers and stud running back J.K. Dobbins should provide plenty of cushion for an offense replacing record-setting quarterback J.T. Barrett. September trips to TCU and Penn State don't leave expected starter Dwayne Haskins much runway to get up to full speed, but his performance against rival Michigan last November should quell any panic about his ability to be ready for a big stage. -- Dan Murphy

Does everybody agree with ESPN that Clemson has the best DL in the counrty?
