But upsets!just looked at the sweet 16 match-ups. not exactly feeling the hype.
ksu vs. uk? meh.
loyola vs. nevada? not feeling it.
fsu vs. gonzaga? potential but not excited.
ttun vs. a&m? probably good.
nova vs. wvu? probably good.
ttu vs. purdue? without haas, meh.
ku vs. clemson? potential but not excited.
duke vs. cuse? boring the first time.
not really. upsets are almost always great. this year, though we have upsets playing upsets instead of other top teams. shoot, i'd rather see umbc than ksu face uk. umbc vs. uk would interest me far, far more. and then there is purdue's key player being injured. purdue vs. ttu is a 2-seed vs. a 3-seed, but the game loses luster if one team is incomplete. as far as duke vs. cuse, well, they've already played each other. usually i'm all for duke playing a lower team. the tournament has a great history of duke being upset by (much) lower ranked teams. But upsets!
Awful lineup. The upsets have been fun, but at this point, I'm pretty much done with this tournament.just looked at the sweet 16 match-ups. not exactly feeling the hype.

Yup, there is actually very little skill required in the tournament it seems. Hit 3s and stay out of foul trouble. That’s about it. Certainly there is individual skill on display, but from a team standpoint, those are the two things that seem to matter.Low key storyline to the early rounds of the tourney every year is the petty refs from lower conferences calling crap fouls because you have too many games for the top refs to call. This is why ideally you should have a reliable bench, as you will invariably need those guys to play important minutes at some point in the tourney if you are going to make an F4.
Have to post this here, too, because it’s epic...
I was unaware of how poorly Izzo has performed against top coaches until he rattled off the records. That is dismal.izzo playing the virtually unknown ben carter reminded me of tressel playing andree tyree in the game in '05. the guy barely played throughout his career as a tackle. but against ttun? good ol' wily tressel tricks everyone, slaps a tight end's number on tyree, and lines him up as a third tackle. game-winning touchdown by pittman with just seconds to go? yeah, that was tyree absolutely caving in ttun's right side. no one saw it coming. so izzo going with a guy who averaged 0.7 points and 0.9 assists was pretty wild and unpredictable just like tressel going with tyree up in ann arbor in '05.
except izzo played tyree at quarterback.
