looked into it a little more to see how much i misremembered...

spellman played a couple seasons of middle school ball in the bronx area, playing aau ball for a team in the nyc area, and played his last two years of high school ball in massachusetts and connecticut. maybe his parents were separated between new york and ohio. i don't know. anyway, his ties to ohio were not strong.
