You call it quitting. I call it a good business decision.Scottie Pippen went public with his opinion that Zion should quit playing college basketball because he has locked up the #1 pick and top shoe deal already.
It's one thing if you are advising football players to sit meaningless bowl games. This is basketball, there is a very low probability of an injury that will linger for months after the season. It's the middle of a season where your team has a legit chance to win a national championship. I'm not saying Scottie is crazy, but Zion chose to play college basketball. No one forced him to pick that route. It would be terrible if guys stop playing college basketball mid-season because they think their stock is high enough. I could be wrong, but I believe NBA teams want competitors, not quitters.
This is college basketball. Dude isnt injured, and the risk of severe injury in NCAA basketball for a particular player over a span of 10 weeks is negligible. You think he is going to be picked lower than #1 even if he tears an ACL? I think not. So what would sitting out accomplish? Nothing, other than making him look like a weenie. You call it quitting. I call it a good business decision.
azubuike was a massive loss. with him, kansas was undefeated, which included wins over tennesse (now #1) and msu (#6). they certainly wouldn't have lost to asu and wvu had he been available. heck, the jayhawks would probably be #1 in the current poll.I feel this year is going to be the year that ends Kansas's streak in the Big 12. The Jayhawks are a lot of mediocre right now. They may not seem like it in the rankings now, but their program has fallen off a cliff from where they were last March.
Yes he is a very good player, not to mention De Sousa being out.azubuike was a massive loss. with him, kansas was undefeated, which included wins over tennesse (now #1) and msu (#6). they certainly wouldn't have lost to asu and wvu had he been available. heck, the jayhawks would probably be #1 in the current poll.
Not enough shoe moneyI feel this year is going to be the year that ends Kansas's streak in the Big 12. The Jayhawks are a lot of mediocre right now. They may not seem like it in the rankings now, but their program has fallen off a cliff from where they were last March.
