As long as we have a good power running game coupledwith throwing passes down the field instead of sideways then I am fine with the hire. We really need to get back to playing solid defense though

Thanks for the link, it just made my morning.

I don't know a lot about Beck other than the fact that Ohio State got shut out again Clemson in his last game as OC there, but I don't think anyone should judge a guy based on 1 game. Hope he does well here.

I think they should judge him based on 2 seasons of complete and utter failure.

My only concern is his refusal to dial up the touchdown play against Clemson. Think that was a mistake.

So when Beck and Herman were on the same staff, tOSU had amazing offense. When just Beck, offense wasn't as good, team made playoffs, but was shut out. EVERYONE PANIC

All good until they realize that Beck was Herman's replacement, did not coach together.

Still think it's a better hire than applewhite

Tejas is a very insulated fanbase. Outside opinions that do not bow to the mighty longhorn program are not welcome. They're a fun bunch to read, but I have no interest interacting with them. The shag isn't about actual critical discussion. The arrogance and entitlement of the fanbase of a program that has been in shambles for the better part of a decade is fascinating. Shit, minus a Vince Young, and arguably a Colt McCoy, they've been pretty average as a program since the early seventies.

To their credit, many of them seem to be in the "wtf?" camp. Many others are taking the "trust Herman" stance. To those poor souls I say...

I'm now convinced every team hates their OC coach - even if you're Alabama. Go away Buckeyes. You can't complain until a $#@!ty Arkansas team holds your team to less than 60 yds of offense, and your coach retains the same OC for the next season

I generally listen to the Horn... but I posted the local sports writers take is "Not Gods gift to play callers" but that was in the Beck thread.. prolly where this should continue... I think most are "trust Herman"
