2017 MLB Playoffs (Official Thread)

So Cubs-Dodgers holds zero interest for me. If the Yanks make the WS I won't care about it, either. But I'm sure the TV networks are salivating over that prospect.

Astros or bust. Otherwise, it's football and hockey time.

It's been football and hockey time since September 9th. Ahh the life of an Orioles fan....

Astros had a 4-0 lead at the seventh inning stretch of game 4, leading the NY series 2-1. Then they pissed down their legs and lost, 4-6.

Series tied.

A Dusty Baker managed team choking in the playoffs?

Unpossible.

'Disappointed' Dusty Baker won't return as Nationals manager

Dusty Baker will not return to the Washington Nationals in 2018, the team announced Friday, a move that has "surprised and disappointed" the longtime manager.

"I really thought this was my best year," Baker told USA Today Sports. "We won at least 95 games each year and won the division back-to back-years but they said they wanted to go a different direction. It's hard to understand."

Baker, 68, has spent 22 seasons as a big league manager, accumulating more than 1,800 regular-season wins with the San Francisco Giants, Cubs, Cincinnati Reds and Nationals.

He was a player in the majors for 19 years, including the 1981 season, when he won a World Series title as a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Despite being the winningest active skipper in the majors (1,863 wins) and 14th all-time, Baker has never won a World Series as a manager.

I always liked Dusty and as a Giant fan I'll always remeber the incident where J T Snow plucked his kid away from home plate in the 2002 World Series......

He does a great job namaging a team in the regular season: however, not so great in the playoffs. Maybe it is time for Dusty Baker to just call it a career (and retire).
