So why is he choosing to continue to play football at all? In particular, pro football - which has a greater likelihood of high impact injury and therefore concussions.

I won't claim to be in a position to judge, and I'll likely never have to make a similar decision to what he made - but I sincerely hope the players we recruit in the future do not share his attitude.

Long-term financial security.

I understand that a lot of fans don't want it to be so, but there are more important things in most of these guy's lives than college football legacy and bringing glory to the old university. If you want top recruiting classes and a shot at the CFP every year, you're going to have players who are in the position to make business decisions. Calling any of them selfish or soft for protecting themselves and their money is ridiculous.
