CFB Weekly Thread 2017 CFB Week 8 Open Thread

To be honest I thought SCUM's D would hold up a lot better than they have tonight. Offensively their output is about what I expected.
A few things scum did didn't make any sense to be honest. Going with a 3-3 formation against this kind of team is really really stupid. Not to mention playing man on Barkley with McCray all game.

Overall Michigan to me while aggressive really seem to struggle running. Their MLB is a good one but having a 3 man front does little in terms of keeping blockers off him.

Bottom line our DL needs to take over a big game for once and live up to the hype they get. Need to limit the time they have to throw against our secondary and stop their option game.

Ped is not a good matchup for our secondary at all but again it's hard to throw deep if you don't have time.

Well, Erik Smith and Sheffield are backups. OSU didn't have Arnette in case you forgot. I know you're in the middle of a tantrum, but at least have some common sense.

Common sense tells me Sheffield is NOT a backup. In case you forgot, Arnette came back in the second half when we were getting lit up.

Damn there are some geniuses in here. And I'm not the one resorting to dick insults unlike your delusional friend there.

The safety was out of position on the long TD pass. The only WR that was getting open was Speilman and if you don't his playing in The Shoe wasn't the game of his life, you're on crack. And what happened after Nebraska scored their second TD? The defense clamped back down.
Not worried about the corn production late in the game. We did have a mix of starters in and it was their #3 receiver.

We went into that game declaring to stop the run and stop Stanley and Pierre (their top two guys) and we accomplished that. If we are forcing a team to go to their #3 guy we will be ok. No one we play has a #3 receiver with those kind of wheels. Not to mention the motivation that obviously only a Spielman can have against OSU.

We adjusted though and once we did it went back to nothing for corn.

Well to his credit Arnette and Smith very much are back ups. Also I saw Wint in on that long TD Spielman had too.

I watched that game twice last week at work and a lot if what corn did in the throwing game was due to their personnel. They played two tight ends a lot and that extra protection was how they got a few good throws off. I don't see this DL getting shut out again

My main argument is that there is some really glaring issues in our pass coverage. That Nebraska QB is a fucking joke compared to McSorley. He has almost as many INTs as TDs. Yet he threw for over 300 yards against us. We gave up almost 350 for the night which is inexcusable.

You can convince yourself we played good D against a shitty team and make excuses about how players have the "game of their lives against us" (that seems to happen a ton), but there is no shame in admitting that PSU will give our secondary tons of problems unless or D Line can put significant pressure on that little fucker.

Arnette gets considerable amount of play time I don't really consider him a "backup". I'll give you Erik Smith though. Both have significant PT so its not like both only get called upon during garbage time.
