CFB Weekly Thread 2017 CFB Week 4 Open Thread

You've gotten several answers, whether you choose to comprehend those answers isn't my fucking problem. But this constant harping on the same subject for 5 straight pages has gotten really fucking old.

By the 'missing' posts in this thread and these responses, it can only mean that someone I have on ignore has frustrated you as much as me a couple of weeks ago.

Just use ignore, it all goes away.

Philosophical question for a Sunday morning:

If people post and I don't see it because they are on ignore, are they still wrong?

The way they've reloaded on defense impresses me to no end. Not sure how they do it.
Some epic Bama defensive efforts over the past few seasons:

2016 Clemson: 35 points, 511 yards, loss
2016 Arkansas: 30 points, 473 yards, win
2016 Ole Miss: 43 points, 522 yards, win
2015 Clemson: 40 points, 550 yards, win
2015 Ole Miss: 43 points, 433 yards, loss
2014 Ohio State: 42 points, 537 yards, loss
2014 Auburn: 44 points, 630 yards, win
2013 Oklahoma: 45 points, 429 yards, loss
2013 Texas A+M: 42 points, 628 yards, win

Nick Saban basically plays 1970s era Big Ten football on both offense and defense, emphasizing size and strength over speed.

Good teams have figured out ways to exploit Alabama, especially their defense. Someone will do it again this season. Let's hope that it's Ohio State in the playoffs.

Styles make the fight

Urban Meyer's style counters Sabans perfectly. Look at the list of teams who have hurt them. The only team on that list that tries to play manball with Bama is Arkansas.

Just a matter of talent levels and execution

Didn't watch the game. Was Iowa that good or were the pedsters underwhelming playing their first team with a pulse?

kind of a fluky game

PSU seemed to have dominated and clearly had superior talent but Iowa just kept hanging around and made key plays when they had to (except the last one).

Very much like OSU at PSU last year.

1) They would have not been on ignore if they were right in the first place.

2) The best predictor of future performance on a criteria is previous performance in that criteria.

Ergo: Still wrong

And, probably more annoying two weeks later.

Strange game. McSorly does well in that offense. Saquan looked good in the right places but I will be surprised if he lasts the whole game against Ohio State. Looks like he's taking a pounding and they play TSUN the week before us. Their defense looked very good early on, but I don't think they will handle Ohio State for four quarters if the Buckeyes get the passing game sorted out. They surely didn't look top 5 to me yesterday.

I'm in the same camp. I'm not as worried about PSU this morning as I was after the 1st Q last night.

One thing Ohio State HAS to do is not let SB get his touches in space. Iowa did that more often than not and he was getting huge chunks of yardage. Key on him every time he's on the field, and never deviate.

McSorely (sp?) doesn't scare me at all. This season has only proven that the heave it up approach's success last season was more luck than anything. He's not hitting on those at nearly the same rate this year, IMO.

I got two things from watching that game last night. If our Dline doesn't make plays against them just going through their right tackle all night it's because he's holding. After watching SB come up hobbled after that cut later in the game I'm less upset about JK not being given all day to run.

Biggest message for me: Manage the damn clock. By no means, leave the Pedsters a couple minutes in the 4th to come back and beat you, because if nothing else is true, they do perform well under pressure. (As in, driving down the field in the last minute and scoring the winning TD throw in a hostile stadium as the final couple seconds expire.)

Oh, and I wasn't still watching then, but I believe I saw something about McSorley kicking the ball into the stands after their victory.
Stay classy, Trace.

At least they ain't out here giving up 400 passing yards to the likes of Indiana though.
