2017 CFB Bowl Games Open Thread

Eh? Did Bama beat Auburn in whatever reality is that you say you're living in? Oh... I see.... you didn't list one of the Buckeyes losses.... Only regular season games against ranked teams...

Alas, if we exclude Bama - Auburn, then there aren't any more Bama regular season games having been played against ranked teams.
Well, no that can't be it either.... Cuz scUM wasn't ranked, just a rival.. but he balked at the Rivalry mention concerning Auburn....

Yeah....

Back to "what's your fucking point?"

'Bama has been ahead of the curve on many fronts, e.g. over-recruiting and roster management, non-coach staffing levels, assistant coach pay, favorable scheduling (last P5 non SEC road game 2011; late-season cup cakes prior to Auburn). These practices have helped 'Bama and tOSU should review their own practices, particularly scheduling.

The B1G as a conference needs to stop back loading schedules, therefore fucking over the conference's NC chances. Do like the SEC and have a powder puff week in November.

The 9 game conference schedule hurts the B1G (along with the PAC and Big 12) when compared to the SEC

I've made this post multiple times. but that 4th OOC game basically pumps the whole SEC up +1 win, cause you know they arent scheduling anyone worth a damn.

while the extra B1G game gives half the B1G an extra loss by playing eachother another time.

And this is where the SECheat has gotten us. OSU will stop scheduling the Oklahomas and USCs of the world for Dennison, Kenyon or Ohio Weslyan. It's not good for the game.

Battle of Shiloh
On the eve of battle, Grant's (Ohio) and Johnston's (SEC) armies were of comparable size, but the Confederates (SEC) were poorly armed with antique weapons, including shotguns, hunting rifles, pistols, flintlock muskets, and even a few pikes (was a shitty conference that year); however, some regiments, such as the 6th and 7th Kentucky Infantry, had Enfield rifles.[31] The troops approached the battle with very little combat (big game) experience; Braxton Bragg's men from Pensacola and Mobile were the best trained. Grant's army included 32 out of 62 infantry regiments who had combat experience at Fort Donelson. One half of his artillery batteries and most of his cavalry were also combat veterans.[32]

This is probably the biggest problem facing the B1G right now.

I will also contend that auburn was the best team in the country when they played UGA and Bama. They were an entirely different team with a healthy Kerryon.

Bama proved the committee right by winning the whole thing. Not much you can argue with that. They lost one road game with four defensive starters out against a very hot team. They healed during the break and showed they were the best team in the country for the fifth time in nine years.

They weren't proven right by Alabama winning it any more than they were proven wrong by Clemson shitting their pants.

The argument wasn't whether or not Alabama could win both games if given the opportunity, it's whether or not they should have been given the opportunity. It's impossible to know if Ohio State (or UCF) would have done the same if they had been given the opportunity.

UCF didn’t play a team anybody had heard of all year. OSU got massacred by a bad team at home, and had a bonus loss.

The best two teams ended up in the title game. They just happened to be from your favorite conference.
