Maryland's putting it to Sparty good. Let's see if they can hold on.

I guess I should be rooting for the fighting Archies against Purdue. It would be more likely for the Hoosiers to have a letdown after a big rivalry win, and it would maybe make Purdue feel less invincible afterward. With OSU coming up soon, maybe that would work in OSU's favor. Maybe. Big maybe. Great big fat maybe that's more likely probably not. But maybe.

The most important thing is beating IU. And Archie. I like Archie and want to root for him but he's at IU. And everything is magnified now by the Holtmann vs. Miller thing. I want it to be true that we didn't screw up the coaching position so I have to want Archie to lose.

It's very conflicting.

I don't particularly care where the tournament is played as long as it's in a state where a conference team resides. Play it in a field in French Lick every year. Play it in Flint and call it the Magic Johnson Legionnaire's Disease B1G Extravaganza. I have no idea why the league thinks playing a few games in NYC is going to have an impact on recruiting or rich alumni.

Yeah those final doors and super bowls were a disaster since all adhere to Ord sensibilities.

I'm not saying it can't be successful in Indy. My point is that I am personally happier with it rotating through some bigger cities that offer more options for the weekend outside of the tournament, and I believe that the conference somewhat came to the same conclusion after having it located in Indy for a decade. I think there's a lot of potential visiting fans that will make a trip to NYC, DC or Chicago because they can do hundreds of other things but might pass on Indy because it's the tourney and nothing very little else.

All that aside, I'm also not naive enough to believe that the NY and DC stops aren't being driven by a desire to build the B!G brand in those markets, and I'm fine with that.

Before we get started, I just noticed final doors above

There's no hypothetical here. Those events are huge successes in Indy, and that includes with the insanely whiny media that tries to posture their way into a free warm weather holiday for winter tournament coverage.

I'm not opposed to having it rotate through sane choices. NY and DC will be attended mildly better than the Maryland game, and their giant gamble is going to struggle even more when the product is hot trash this year.

According to Brando and Jackson the officials doing the Indiana/Purdue game were the best 3 officials doing NCAA basketball or something close to that. Personally, I thought they were homers and the Purdue big guy, Haas, got pushed around quite a bit with no calls and he could not block a shot without being called for a foul. I hope those guys stay in Bloomington.
