This defense basically uses 3 CBs and one safety. So as long as we got enough CBs we will be OK.
The coaches love Hooker and Burrows. And Smith is a Safety who can cover like a CB.
If guys get hurt all bets are off though.

Sometimes I wonder how many times they repeat this kind of topic in the off season. They do a great job but some of it seems to be covering what's on people's mind, like a monthly or bi monthly thread about Gibson and the wideouts

It seems hard to cleanly separate S and CB. Coombs point is reflected on the field as well - Burrows was a CB not so long ago.
It seems like we have 12 guys for 3 spots. 8 of whom have been around for at least 1 year.
Not counting Conley and Webb b/c I take it for granted both will see regular action. With 2 dedicated coaches - one of them a defensive guru - and the outstanding athletes brought in here, I just look forward to seeing the cream rise to the top.

I'm more worried about the lines. OLines can take awhile to gel and the Pridgeon business poses a bit of a red flag about some guys. And then there's the 1tech DT issue with a glut of elite DEs.

A little off topic, but I think Pridgeon's addition and potential to start says more about his talent and ability if he can keep more than one blue chip like Jamarco Jones, Isaiah Prince, Demetrius Knox, or Majin Buu (Matthew Burrell) off of the field. I mean, the coaches were saying Pridgeon could be a "one-and-done" as a JUCO. That's really something... especially at a place like Ohio State

Besides, any worry I had about our O-Line this fall died a wonderful, juice-laden death when Coach Stud decided to join Ed Warriner on this coaching staff

Talent's not an issue with our safety room... it's depth/bodies and injury history. Sounds like Denzel Ward is penciled in to get the first team CB reps opposite Gareon Conley for spring ball, so the major focus is going to be on both safety positions. When we get to the first game with regards to the defensive backfield, I'm hoping it's not going to be a "we're going to put the best 4-5 players out there" type of thing and more of a "the guys in the spots won them by a mile in camp" type of thing.

This spring is going to be spring ball 2014 all over again. Lots of unproven guys fighting for respect and starting spots at all positions. Everything will work out in the end. One thing's for sure, it's going to be exciting to be "on the beat" covering the Bucks this spring
