PSU is lucky their cross division games were Purdue, Minnesota, and Iowa. No way they'd go 3-0 again Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Northwestern.
Agreed, they had an extremely weak schedule. I don't see them beating Wisconsin at all if they make it to the Big Ten championship game. Hell they might lose to MSU next week playing like this. This same Rutgers team got destroyed by MSU as well 49-0

That blowout loss to SMU hurts them bad along with possibly not even winning their conference.

Oh yeah, no doubt. But if injuries matter (and the committee says they do) then you also have to consider how thin they were going into that October stretch (plus all the Herman to LSU/Texas/USC distractions). Houston, when healthy, is one of the better teams in the country. If Oklahoma with two losses is a candidate, why not take the two loss team that beat them straight up on a neutral field?

I'm not advocating Houston as one of the four best teams in the country, but only throwing them out there specifically in relation to Oklahoma.
