2016-2017 College Basketball Discussion

After the fact, they said they would have counted the bucket had it gone in. I don't think he would have heaved it like that if the clock was right. Absolutely should have reset and done it over.

UCLA is going to be a load. I can't wait to see them against premiere competition. They have six or so guys that can go for 15-20 with that pace of play. Ball and Leaf might only be around for one, but they are clearly an early darkhorse national contender (if you can call UCLA an underdog).

I'm not sold on anybody being a powerhouse this year. Lots of good teams, though. Duke might be ahead of everyone if they ever get all of their freshmen. Kentucky is obviously Kentucky, but this year's team might not have the outside shooters they've had in the past. Briscoe, Monk, and Fox are elite...but I could see them going like 4-18 in a game from 3. I actually think Purdue could kind of make a run towards being upper echelon this year.

Creighton looks pretty good so far

They have 5 guys averaging 10+ a game. 4/5 of their games have came against bigger conference teams (Wisconsin, Wazzu, NC State, Ole Miss)

Might be a team to look out for down the stretch.

What an exciting brand of basketball UCLA plays. I think that team is something special. I don't always like Ball's decisions and approach to the game, but there's no denying he makes up for it with plays. They are really good rebounders, too. Broke UK's 42-game home winning streak. Fortunately, they kind of wear themselves out with that style of play, so the Bucks should be able to hang with them down the road.

Strange trend, but the small Catholic schools across the country are absolutely forces to be reckoned with. Possible top-tens in Villanova, Xavier, Gonzaga, Creighton, St. Mary's, and Butler. Throw in Notre Dame, I guess, they're looking good, too. Even Dayton might be top-25 when they get Pollard back.
