Welp, I was visiting this thread after viewing the Devin Gardner thread- wondering what the heck Jim-Bo was going to do about the QB situation. Looks like no good answers yet.

Just imagine what hairball can do with a qb with those moves.

I actually think the new staff scum is a fail as far as recruiting. Yes they can play the "we know what to do to get in the show". But when they are really successful, their recruiting is like a 3 legged stool.

1) Dominate Michigan for top recruits 5-7 spots
2) Split the top players in Ohio with tOSU 8-12 spots
3) Add in a few "national" recruits 5-7 spots

Lets look at the staff with this in mind

1) Right now MSU (I don't think Dantonio is going anywhere) is splitting the state with UM for the top players with OSU looking to take 1 or 2 top kids every year (great move by Urban). There is no one on this staff that has ever recruited Michigan before. Mattison may have helped but as a DC he really was focussed on national kids. They have offered a non coaching job to Manning but there will be limits on what he can do ( and he may not even take the job).

2) Zordich is the lone staff member with "Ohio" ties and that is in 2014 at YSU as an assistant and 2003 to 2008 as an assistant coach for Cardinal Mooney HS in Youngstown. Compare this to what Urban did. He hired Coombs, Fickell, Hinton and Warriner who all had experience recruiting Ohio. The another staff member I did not mention, Vrabel had as much experience as Zordich. Rather than hiring his son, Hairball would have better served by hiring an Ohio HS school coach. Missing on Morrow was huge.

3) That leaves them trying to execute a totally national strategy. And I just don't see scum being the academic draw for some of these national kids that Stanford was.

Someone should tell Bellomy it doesn't work quite like that. Typically, you have to be wanted on another team. If not, it's called just "enrolling at another school".

IS there another FBS school desperate enough to take him?

Hell, FCS for that matter

EDIT

No, on second thought...Urban should take him and beat scUM with him.

That would be epic.

Russell Bellomy elects not to take fifth year at Michigan, will become a graduate transfer http://sbnation.com/e/7716612
Wonder if he'll take his helmet

Also: A short time later, teammate and defensive end-turned-tight end Keith Heitzman did the same thing as Bellomy, and on the same website to boot.

Monday, it was reported that running back Justice Hayes would be leaving as a graduate transfer. Prior to that, and between the firing of Brady Hoke and the hiring of Jim Harbaugh, linebacker Michael Ferns and offensive lineman Kyle Bosch left the program as well. Both of those players ultimately landed at West Virginia.
