Ew.
Your opinion stinks.
Kickoff and punt COVERAGE have been very solid. MUUUUCH better than last year, and significantly better than a lot of the country. While I agree that the return game has been sketchy, it's also an improvement over the unit that ultimately cost us a bowl win.
When it comes to coaching you have to look at what a coaching staff does with their talent. Saban/Smart/Kiffin/etc. are professionals, but I don't see the kind of growth and progression with their men that you see from the staffs that pride themselves on GROWING their talent. This year's team has talent out the ass and they have played as such. Not dominating as one might expect, but like a team with a bevy of 5* guys. Maybe it's a matter of seeing the team from an outside perspective, but as far as coaching goes these guys are all about scheme and recruiting. Nothing more.
Meyer/Herman/Fickell-Ash have taken a program with so much raw potential and utilized it to it's limits and then some. Not only have they built a functional scheme on both sides of the ball, but they have recruited to it and this year is proof of concept. This is a team that's very talented but very young and this coaching staff has gotten more than anyone could've expected out of them during this year's run. Talking scheme, it's a wash. The best in the business are calling the shots on either side, easy to call a draw in that regard. However, I think our squad has done the more noteworthy job of
actually coaching... and I really think that counts for something.
