Breaking down Ohio State's spring football roster: Who's wearing what number? Who bulked up? Who slimmed down?

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State released its official spring football roster on Tuesday. Here's everything you need to know about who's missing, who changed numbers, who bulked up and who slimmed down:

• Seven players who had eligibility remaining are no longer listed on Ohio State's roster. They are: LB Devan Bogard, OL Kyle Dodson, LB Trey Johnson, DB Armani Reeves, OL Antonio Underwood, DB Ron Tanner and DL Chris Carter.

Urban Meyer said on National Signing Day that Bogard, Reeves and Tanner wouldn't be back due to injuries. The Buckeyes announced that Dodson, who's dealt with various injuries since high school, was medically disqualified from football in December.

Both Underwood and Carter would have been fifth-year seniors on the 2015 team, but Meyer said both opted to end their careers after the 2014 season. Johnson had to end his career due to arthritis in his right knee, according to his hometown paper in Gwinnett, Ga.

Contd....

May would be a lot better if he'd just come out and ask one hard hitting question Columbus wants an answer to. Problem is, he doesn't. He begins with, "Could you just talk about ... uh ..." then bumbles a bunch of vague nonsense like nobody in the WHAC knows what callers to 1460 have been talking about for the past 72 hours. Tim May lobs weaker softballs than Larry King, like he's afraid he'll get thrown out of a practice if he offends anybody with a direct question.

I really like Tim May. And I don't think the primary responsibility of a beat writer is to ask tough questions; it's to inform and to entertain. From a written word and insight perspective, I think May and Lesmerises are the best around.

I completely understand the prevailing wisdom here is to hate May, but I just don't. Dave Biddle is another matter entirely. News flash, Dave: it's about the Buckeye team, not about you.

media windows are limited. Asking useful, informed questions is vital especially if you tend to be one of the most vocal and answered reporters.

I don't hate Tim at all. I like him a lot and think he is a good writer. I feel he asks some questions that make me cringe. They aren't classless or wicked questions (like others ask), they just tend to be naive or aloof at times.
