Game Thread 2015 National Championship Game: (2) Oregon vs. (4) Ohio State, Jan 12th @ 8:30p ET, ESPN

Part of me wants Oregon to start this game with a KR for TD on their way to the losing end of a 41-14ish final.

All of me wants this game to go like the Wisconsin game. Because I will be there and I don't know if my heart can take it another come from behind win like the Alabama game. Although when it's all done it is awesome, just so much anxiety during.

On a side note. This will be the first NC I have ever attended. The only other "championship" game I attended was the B1G championship game, this year. So hopefully it's a lot like that.

Soooooo after reading this about all of tOSU National Championships, something there caught my attention. When OSU played Miami, it was the first BCS era National Championship? If so, then the Bucks could also be the first to win the College Playoff Championship. I didn't realize this, and would make it even more enjoyable if they get the "W" next Monday night.
The first BCS title was won by Tennessee, I believe. 1998. tOSU was beat by Sparty, and won the Sugar Bowl against aTm.

I think.

This. tOSU split the B1G Championship with Bucky and scUM that year. Bucky went to the Rose Bowl and we went to New Orleans against TAMU, because fuck m*ch*g*n.

Unfortunately, I'm moving to Tampa this weekend or I'd make the trip. Went 4-0 in BCS games ('03 Miami, '06 ND, '10 Oregon, '11 Arkansas).

Got a job at a warehouse on October 1st last year. Seasonal with the possibility of getting a full time gig. Looking promising. They don't hire giggle fucks. I'm not a giggle fuck.

But because CFB is afraid of making ALL OF THE MONEY, they hold their motherfucking national title game on a motherfucking MONDAY NIGHT. I work 2nd shift. If I...get sick Monday and have to miss work, I can kiss any chance of full time employment with my current employer goodbye.

So if anyone knows of any machine operator positions open, holla at me. I'm OSHA certified to train operators also.
.FML

Glad you caught that. I didn't read the fine print. This is from the BCS site. Depends upon whether BCS stands for Bowl Coalition or Bowl Championship. No crystal balls until 98, but basically the same 1 v 2 format.

1992 Regular Season
In its first year, the Bowl Coalition was a rousing success. The Coalition was formed to increase the likelihood of matching the top two teams in the nation while creating other exciting bowl pairings that would appeal to fans and would be based on the full season's results. When No. 1 Miami met No. 2 Alabama in the Sugar Bowl, it was the first pairing of the top two teams in a bowl game since Oklahoma and Miami played for the national title in the Orange Bowl after the 1987 season. The Crimson Tide beat the Hurricanes and won the national championship in both the coaches and the writers polls.

The Conference Champions
Atlantic Coast: Florida State (11-1)*
Big East: Miami (11-0)
Big Eight: Nebraska (9-2)
Southeastern: Alabama (12-0)
Southwest: Texas A&M (12-0)

Other Participants
Notre Dame (9-1-1)
Syracuse (9-2)
Colorado (9-1-1)

The Matchups
Orange Bowl: (3) Florida State 27, (11) Nebraska 14
Fiesta Bowl: (6) Syracuse 26, (10) Colorado 22
Cotton: (5) Notre Dame 28, (4) Texas A&M 3
Sugar Bowl: (2) Alabama 34, (1) Miami 13

1998 Regular Season
In the first year of the Bowl Championship Series, Kansas State, Tennessee, and UCLA entered the final weekend of the regular season undefeated, but Kansas State lost to Texas A&M in the Big 12 championship game, and UCLA lost at Miami, creating a classic Tennessee-Florida State matchup for the national championship in the Fiesta Bowl. Tennessee emerged with the victory.

The Automatic-Qualifying Conference Champions
Atlantic Coast: Florida State (11-1)
Big East: Syracuse (8-3)
Big Ten: Wisconsin (10-1)
Big 12: Texas A&M (11-2)
Pac-10: UCLA (10-1)
Southeastern: Tennessee (12-0)

Other Participants
Florida (9-2)
Ohio State (10-1)

The Matchups
Fiesta Bowl: (1) Tennessee 23, (2) Florida State 16
Orange Bowl: (8) Florida 31, (15) Syracuse 10
Sugar Bowl: (4) Ohio State 24, (6) Texas A&M 14
Rose Bowl: (9) Wisconsin 38, (5) UCLA 31

Oregon site breaks down the matchup with advanced statistics, has 'oh shit' moment.

http://www.addictedtoquack.com/2015...d-s-p-see-the-game-2014-national-championship

If Oregon wins, it's going to be because they will be able to limit the big plays by Ohio State. Oregon will have contained, somewhat, Devin Smith. Oregon will have not let Ezekiel Elliott make some backbreaking giant runs, though he is awfully good at them. Oregon will not have done a lot of mistakes of their own, and Oregon might even have a defensive turnover score or some low-percentage play, and will definitely have won the turnover battle - possibly needing to win that decisively. And somehow, Marcus Mariota will escape sack after sack after sack and get positive yardage. It likely has Cardale Jones somehow get stopped a bit or look like a guy in his third start. Erick Dargan will have another crazy day where he's around the ball and gets a turnover or two. That's what an Oregon win looks like.

That's also not the most likely scenario. Ohio State's offense, on paper, is an incredibly consistent, efficient killing machine that is better than anything Urban Meyer has ever wielded. Oregon's defense is at best opportunistic, but that only goes so far. Ohio State's defense - particularly their front 7 - is disciplined, fast, and very good at causing havoc and disruption, and will likely pressure Mariota all day. While I expect Oregon to be able to run quite a bit, Oregon will likely have enough failures in the passing game to not score points - and against OSU, I don't see that going well.

I am starting to understand Urban..to him the QBis one of eleven..he doesn't over emphasize the QB or the RB..all of his comments during the year show this. He lets Cardale be Cardale and do what he does best. He wants eleven going hard for 4 to 6 seconds...doing their responsibility and then live with the results. Same with the D for 2 years I thought some of the Defenders were trying to over compensate to cover for a perceived weakness in a teammate. Now its eleven each doing their job...Thom Thibedeaux Bulls Coach says it best...No matter who is injured he says "We have enough to win if everyone does their job"..and his favorite expletive is"Do your Job!" This is what this team is doing and the talent is there to beat anyone.

The game is actually pretty similar....
Heisman QB, Great and highly touted offense, decent defense now onto us (the preverbal Florida).

Great defensive line, a 7 point dog, multiple QB's used in the year, 1 loss, and oh yeah Urban freaking Meyer.
