Game Thread 2015 National Championship Game: (2) Oregon vs. (4) Ohio State, Jan 12th @ 8:30p ET, ESPN

The defense has just got to find a way to get off the field when given the opportunity. Mariota is great at converting 3rd downs and as has been stated how you beat Oregon is you use its tempo against them. Imagine trying to tackle eze, jalin, dontre and cardale for a 4 minute drive of 65 yards then your offense goes 3 and out in 5 minutes real time. This then putting a defense that just was out there for 4 minutes back out on the field. They do not have the depth anywhere on defense to compensate for this and if we can manage a few of these they will crack.

Also we need to convert our opportunities as well. Mariota was almost picked off a few times against free shoes but they dropped picks that would've got them off the field. If we force bad decisions which are very rare for marcus we need to capitalize (looking at you mr apple)

I haven't been this confident since tOSU vs. Florida NCS game a few years back!

Again, OSU was a heavy favorite which is always a red flag. And when reports of Anthony Gonzalez hypoxic chamber low oxygen tent started appearing daily it was quite disconcerting.
WTF.gif

As Meyer mentioned years later, it's always better to be the underdog in order to light a fire. btw, didn't know at the time Meyer was born in Ohio and his association w/Ohio State. The stars were aligned perfectly for the Gators.

On the other hand when has Ohio State ever come back from (15) points down and defeat the #1 team in the country? Probably never. And how often has a 3rd string QB won a NC? Of course there are 3rd stringers and then there is Cardale. JT was interviewed before the WI game and said Cardale is just as good as me, not to worry. The truth shall set you free!

He's their best deep threat, 2nd leading receiver in yards. Had 7 receptions, 165 yards, 23.6 avg for 2 TD's vs FSU.
So let's get this straight? They lose Allen and now Carrington the two fastest and best deep threats they have? Blood. In. The. Water.

Regardless, you don't just not miss a beat with this stuff... stack the box, pressure Marcus, and take your odds with our secondary. Everyone moves up a spot in their WR corps and now I really like our matchups even more than I did. Trust our corners because if they can eliminate Cooper they can man anyone up.

They will lean on the run and option game more so I have a feeling.

Yea it's definitely big, and truly sucks to see (not for him since it was a failed drug test, but sucks for his teammates). Having said that, he was only their best deep threat receiver. Sure as heck not their only guy who can attack deep. But they are arguably down 3 out of their top 4 receivers now (#1 preseason now #3 and #4). Plus, they're missing their top TE (although that was a couple months ago).

When Oregon gets down to its 3rd string wide receiver, then it's time to start worrying. And championship teams have a knack of overcoming adversity. Like being down 21-6 to the #1 team in the country after two early turnovers.

Edit:

Noah Spence
Braxton Miller
J.T. Barrett

Wow - did OU play Colorado this year? Wonder if they'll appeal.

Wonder if there's any movement in Vegas?
There already has been. opened at 7, down to 6 now and already moving lower. I wouldn't be surprised if it's at 5 at kickoff. Not only because of this, but was already trending downward.

Edit: It opened at 7.5 at some places, and now at 5.5 at some places. Wouldn't shock me for it to get as low as 4, but I'll still say 5. Maybe 4.5.

Well now when the Buckeyes win, the narrative surrounding why they don't deserve it will be a bit more straightforward.

Good for them, the haters.

Moral of the story kids? Don't get caught doing drugs if others are depending on you not to.
