Game Thread 2015 National Championship Game: (2) Oregon vs. (4) Ohio State, Jan 12th @ 8:30p ET, ESPN

I like how Ohio State is positioned for this game. They have an intangible - and I don't know whether it has a name or whether it can be described. I just call it "it". It's a closeness, a belief, a confidence, radical improvement, momentum, love, playing for each other, selflessness, and a bunch of other nebulous terms. The problem with "it" is you can't manufacture it, don't know how to keep it, and it is unpredictable as to how long you will have it once you get it. But if Ohio State has "it" on Monday, they will win.

My concern is that Mariota might be the kryptonite to "it". I love everything about what that guy does on and off the field - which is why I will be hating his guts on Monday. To me, the whole game rests on is who is more powerful? OSU's "it" or Mariota's performance. That's my extremely in-depth breakdown of the game.

Who's been reading the quotes from the Ducks players? I haven't. The Bucks players seem extremely confident in their quotes, almost to the point where I'm worried about over confidence. Just wondering if the Ducks players are saying the same kind of things.

I am with you here Tanner: It's amazing how fast the tables have turned for our Buckeyes and the "Confidence " factor has become a part of this website. A little over a month ago, we were all questioning the performance of Ohio State and it's 3rd string QB in the game with Wisconsin.

Now here we are, just brimming with Joy and hope, anxiously awaiting the game with Oregon. I hope we do NOT become over-confident. I remember the Oregon / MSU game back in september. Sparty was winning 27 - 18 and i was pretty sure they would go on to beat Oregon but is was not to be. However, i am not trying to compare Ohio State with MIch St. No not at all. It's just that i hope we can learn something from that game about Oregon.

I keep hearing all these talking heads on ESPN stating how Oregon's quick pace will tire out our D....but let's flip this and ...what if our D gets some 3 and outs...and have several methodical long drives against Oregon's D? Keeping our D fresh, and THEIR defense fatigued in the 4th quarter.

I hope we don't ask Cardale to pass 40+ times in this game. Let's not get too cute with the play calling, and just hammer them with EzE 30+ times. Limit the turnovers, get a few of our own.

I'd also say the overall receiving corp is faster, but even if so not materially.

Devon Allen is the reigning NCAA & USATF 110m hurdle champion. Unfortunately for the Ducks, unless they've got some guys making miraculous recoveries this weekend, their biggest speed advantages will be on the sidelines in knee braces and walking boots.

A lot has been said in this thread about the Oregon speed. I was reading earlier today one of the analysts talking about Oregon has more speed than tOSU, but tOSU has enough speed and several more athletes/players to be considered the favorite.

Observation....has the running game become more potent because of the long pass threat by Cardale? Barrett was more of a short/medium passing game, and we had a pretty decent running game. But in the past 2 games against some pretty stout running defenses....we've pretty much run wild.

I think you are exactly right. The safeties have to play deep so they can't help on the run.

What you want to do ideally is turn Oregon's tempo on them. It's not something easy to do, but if you can get stops, especially 3 and outs, they are taking 35 seconds off the clock and putting their defense back out on the field. On the other hand, if we can run the ball with Zeke, we rest our defense, and help them get more stops. That tempo thing is a 2 edged sword. We need to turn it on them, and we will win big. Otherwise, we are in for a tense Monday evening.

I don't think that Wisconsin prepared for Cardale to be throwing AT ALL, and when he did, they freaked out and the wheels fell off their defense.

I think Alabama didn't expect us to be able to run successfully AT ALL, and when we did, they freaked out and the wheels fell off their defense.
