Game Thread 2015 National Championship Game: (2) Oregon vs. (4) Ohio State, Jan 12th @ 8:30p ET, ESPN

So I decided to rewatch the Sugar Bowl and the NCG. Upon review, a few things really stood out to me:

1) Pat Elflein is a freaking stud. To be completely honest, I thought he was a gap-filler in a down recruiting year at the heels of JT leaving. I rewatch both games and time after time he is mauling down on a crucial block. And then moving down to center in the Bama game when Boren was briefly out. What he brings to our OL is incredible and he is such an unsung hero. If he is not all B1G next year (assuming he brings it again), something is wrong in the world. And really Boren could be praised that highly as well, kid is a freaking warrior...that gets lost to some I think just because we expect that from the Boren lineage. Obviously the whole OL did great but Elflein really stood out to me.

2) Nick Vannett: I already liked him and knew he was a great blocker, but I did not realize he was an elite blocker until I rewatched the games. So many plays he sprung a huge play (see also Evan Spencer here) and also was a receiving threat. His trap blocks though:boogie:

3) The defense was night and day different from earlier in the season. Before, the offense would commit a turnover and the defense rolled over. But in the last 3 games, they had the offense's backs. They are going to be fun to watch next year.

- That is all I have right now but I woke up and realized we are still national champions. And damn it still feels good.
Agree on all points.

Another thing that I think we (at least I) may have taken for granted was the overall health of the o-line this year. I mean, holy shit, we had a little bit of Lady Luck on our side there, plus a guy named Mariotti. With all of the QB turnover, and ultimate success, I don't recall the o-line having any true health concerns until Boren went down for a bit in the Bama game. The overall health of the team was paramount this year, just not at the QB position. Which was laughable considering how all that turned out (not that I'm laughing at the injuries of Miller or Barrett).

Here's to another healthy season in 2015. That's damn hard to do.

There are 100+ teams in college football that would gladly take some o-line injuries rather than have their starting QB go down. And even more would prefer their second string QB not go down as well. In short, saying Lady Luck was on our side this season in any respect or hoping that OSU have "another healthy season in 2015" (implying 2014 was a healthy season) is both ridiculous and laughable.

Yes well our oline health has been very fortunate over the past few years. No doubt that is a significant contributor to out success.

Are we trying to jinx it? Because, if we are, this ^ is exactly how to go about it.

With an awful OL, you cannot have a good QB. Ask JT Barrett after the VT game. It is all relative and we had to overcome major adversity to do what we did after losing JT/Braxton and Spence, but fingers have to be crossed on a healthy OL. The bright side though is that depth should be very, very deep next season. We have everyone returning except Baldwin but there are 4-5 guys that could be starting anywhere else in the country. Farris is a fairly proven commodity, Knox and J. Jones are budding stars, and Lisle looks ready to be a great player. Then you have Trout, Taylor, and M. Jones in the wings, with all of Prince, Feder, Schmidt, Burrell, Mirkovich, and Bowen coming in. Considering the talent, numbers, and above all else Warriner, I feel abundantly upbeat about the trenches on offense next year.

Hey bud, my post was specific to the health of the o-line. Our health issues at QB are obviously well known and well documented. OSU was extremely fortunate that those QB issues didn't stall the season. I'm not trying to make this an argument, but I think you took my post in the wrong direction.

Aside from the ever-so-important QB position, OSU had a very healthy year. That's a fact, not so much laughable.

I understand what you're trying to say though.

It's a cold, wintry day and I'm going to sit in front of the TV and watch in order; the Big Championship game, Sugar Bowl and the National Championship!!
I'm still "drinkin' the Koolaid"!
#GoBucks!

It's too late I'm sure, but I would sugest watching them in reverse order. Oregon was the mistakiest game Of the three. Bama was less so. Wisconsin was as near perfect a game I've ever seen played!

The best video I have seen on the 2014 season. Sorry, I can't get a link to post but if you slide over to 11 Warriors...

"RELIVE OHIO STATE'S NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON WITH THIS FANTASTIC VIDEO

Finally, the video Ohio State's championship season deserves; Eleven Warriors' reader dcreeg, take a bow, lad.

Reeg forwarded this 26 minute capstone, and the only feedback he's going to get from me will be in the form of the contractor's estimate to repair my shanty.

By my rough estimations, you could watch this video 11,480 times before Ohio State kicks off the 2015 campaign in Blacksburg."

TRULY AWESOME, AWESOME PIECE. IF THIS DOESN'T MAKE YOU PROUD TO BE A BUCKEYE, YOU DON'T HAVE A PULSE.

Need a cleanup in aisle 12 and 15.
