2015 CFB Week 1 Open Thread

We weren't a top 5 team at the beginning of last season. Our rank may or may not have been. But I remember hearing genuine concern coming from this message board as soon as the final whistle sounded against Navy. It's not a bad thing, I'm simply saying those three teams didn't perform like their rank indicates.

We were 5/6 week 1, but only b/c the rankings came out before Braxton's injury.
We dropped to 7/8 after Navy... and pretty much no media hype whatsoever. Even before VTech the talk was that we wouldn't see the top-4.

MSU is ranked in the top-5 and looks like they're top-10 at best right now... but nobody is talking about them making the playoffs, and their HC isn't in the press every month claiming they got robbed.
Baylor and TCU come in with some SEC-like hype behind them and don't look half that good. Boykin is supposed to be the heisman front runner outside Ohio State (where the vote is likely to get split between Eze and the QB).

Wide right, something Boise State (fuck them) should be used to. Granted that this wide right was much closer than Brotzman's wide right kick to lose it for Boise State (fuck them). The only hatred I have left after hating that terrible state up north is for BSU. Fun game to watch though.

In all seriousness though, UW looked absolutely terrible and still almost pulled off a road victory with the Little Giants on their roster. I mean, they had almost nothing on the roster left after graduation and players leaving early. I would love to see BSU reach the playoffs, but only if we get to play them. I would love nothing more than to wreck their [Mark May].

With 4 spots and 5 power conferences... anyone not named Notre Dam can shut it down and hope for one of the associated bowls as their best shot.
There will be 2 SEC or BXII teams before a mid major.

I was merely speaking in terms of not playing like a Top 5 team. Things didn't really start to click right away. But once they did.. CHAMPIONSHIP!

Yea the 1st paragraph I was just providing facts since the topic wasn't clear where we were ranked... 2nd paragraph wasn't directed at anybody, just my personal thoughts after reading several exchanges.

Several people have pointed out MSU doesn't look their ranking either, and that's fair... but rankings aside, MSU doesn't have the hype of Baylor and TCU. Nor are they in the press crying incessantly about how they got robbed (when the whiner couldn't even beat MSU in a glorified home game).

Agreed. The hype is nauseating with Baylor and TCU. When they decide to finally field a defense, then we can talk about them being in the playoff picture.

On a side note, this Walker (MLB, I believe) is all over the field for Northwestern.
