2014 Week 9 CFB Open Thread

The way things are shaking out, Miss State or Ole Miss will likely drop a game before the Egg Bowl (Maybe both), and then one will beat the other. If tOSU knocks off MSU and wins the championship they should be a lock and the VT game will be a old memory come time for the playoff selection.

I agree... there's still WAY too much football to be played... Most teams still control their own destinies.

Hey, at least you didn't have stupid-ass announcers that can't remember a freaking team's star player's name...

HOW many times did that dumbshit Jesse Palmer call Duke Johnson as Duke Williams? What an idiot...

Joke going around the InterWebz... Is that Duke Johnson got 148 yards rushing, and Duke Williams got 101 yards.

Freaking ESPiN idiots...

I think Ohio State's biggest challenge getting into the playoff is going to be Oregon. @ Cal @Utah @Oregon St are their toughest games left including the pac 12 championship. I think 2 SEC teams end up making it + FSU.

It's still early though.

I look at it like this...

If there was another top tier team, say Oregon, who ran the table, it would be hard to keep them out of the playoff - damn near impossible. Of course, if they were to lose to an unranked, middle of the pack opponent, like say..... Arizona; would anyone be trumpeting how they belong in the playoff? Of course not.

Oh......I see........carry on.

Arizona hasn't self destructed (yet) like VT did.

Miami rushed for 364 yards (6.9 ypc) against Virginia Tech; Ohio State managed only 108 yards rushing (2.7 ypc).

Michael Brewer has to be one of the worst quarterbacks who has ever beaten Ohio State.

I'm really looking forward to next year's rematch.
Remind me to break this one out before the VT rematch. Urban will be looking for some payback/redemption.

TCU and Notre Dame could also be road blocks. If Notre Dame wins out then their only loss would be @FSU on the reversal of the game winning TD due to a penalty. TCU has already beaten Oklahoma and Oklahoma St, plus would have wins over WVU and Kansas St. They throttled Minnesota which right now may be the third or fourth best team in the B1G. TCU's lone loss would be by 3 points to Baylor after handing Baylor their asses for 50-minutes.

It is early, but OSU is really going to need a whole lot of help.

That's how it SHOULD work out but I have my doubts with what people are saying all over the country. It would help if we had some kind of idea how this "committee" were going to do their selecting. The unknown is always the scariest. To hell with it though, if the Buckeyes get a W every Saturday from here until December, I'll still say we are the best team in America! Come get some!!

While I wish I had your optimism (yes I can be quite harsh on our guys) I will continue to hold that while we have as much TALENT as anyone in the nation I will not consider us the best team until we beat someone that is highly ranked from outside our conference. MSU will certainly look good if we win that game but we are going to need to beat them handily in order to get in the playoffs I think.

I will say if we win out and beat a high ranked MSU, top 25 Minnesota team and a top ranked Nebraska team we deserve a shot. Wether we get that shot though...

I don't know about TCU, but ND won't win out. They'll most likely pickup a loss in November. They're very young this year, and between the suspended players and injuries I think the depth and inexperience will hurt come November. They were lucky to make it to this point with one loss. If I had to guess, it'll be SEC champ, probably FSU, PAC-12 champ, and B1G champ. I think TCU will struggle with either WV or Kansas State, and the Big 12 won't get the benefit of a championship game. The only wrench in that formula is if the talking heads find a way to push for the 2 SEC team bullshit.

I feel you. I did say if we get W's all the way out though which would include MSU, Minny and probably Nebraska. :-)
