2014 Week 1 CFB Open Thread

Don't really think so.

Feeling pretty good about picking aTm as my upset winner this week. Their offense is awesome.

Seriously, in 17 SEC games under Sumlin A&M has gone over 600 yards of total offense eight times.

I know most of us can sit in the "When does great offense=bad defense" thread and argue, but relative to their peers, that seems like a damn good offense, I think.

ATM looked pretty good tonight. South Carolina looked like bowling green. They were horrid on offense and had so many holes on defense. Their first two scores were on long passes where the ATM defense completely broke down and missed someone. USCe was not even close to a top 25 team. ATM looked very well balances. As I stated earlier they had a few break downs in their secondary but overall the corners played tight coverage, the line played well and their offense pretty much had their way with a completely overmatched and pitiful USCe defense.

Exposed? They kept it within four touchdowns to a high-powered SEC! offense. They'll probably drop down from 9 to around 14 at worst.

I don't know if that narrative will stand the test of time this year though...especially if Bama's QB situation is as bad as it could potentially be and if USCe gets lit up by UGA and Clemson down the road.
