2014 Week 1 CFB Open Thread

My thoughts:

Gophers run game is legit. Good win.

aTm pasting USCocks SHOULD be an indictment of the SEC. 20 years of mediocrity in the BigXII followed by being very competitive in the SEC doesn't really jive with the narrative to me.

Ole Miss will get props for beating Boise, but that was a 7-6 game in the 4th. Boise's QB sucks.

That's all I've got for now.

Good first night of football.
Rutgers made me proud pulling that one out. Keep winning those OOC games against similarly powered Big 5 schools, on the road, across the country, in the middle of the night. Very nice.
Minny was just rockin and rollin having fun with Eastern Illinois. Covered the spread.
Then Vandy getting embarrassed by the Owls (basically an FCS school), made me laugh so hard. Perhaps Franklin was doing something there, I'll have to rethink my preseason estimations for Penn State. They may do alright.
Ole Miss only made that a blowout by scoring 28/35 pts in the 4th quarter. I enjoyed watching the first half, Boise State should not have been competitive considering the talent that Ole Miss has recruited. All those 5 star guys probably could have done better for themselves going somewhere else. I'm actually shocked the pundits didn't manage to get Boise State ranked to start the season to get Boise State another ranked game.
Talk about recruiting, you can definitely see the difference in Sumlin recruiting compared to Spurrier. It was easy to guess USCe was vastly overrated at 9. They were straight terrible. Their only saving grace was their running game. Will likely finish last in the East if Vandy and Kentucky and Tennessee weren't there to hold them up. Wow, as I typed that out I realized that the bottom 4/7 in the East would all be lucky to go 6-6 in the MAC. aTm looked pretty great. Offense was chugging, but more impressive their defense looked great. A few holes in the running game. The secondary let the cocks get 2 easy TDs (when they should have had a goose egg at the half) but then they cranked down tight and played really good tough coverage. I see aTm finishing in the top 2 of the conference.

I get that Kenny Hill played very well against an SC team with an absolute pedestrian defensive backfield, and that is the story line.

Why is no one talking about how lackluster either teams running game was or the fact that A&M's defense is extremely weak? They gave up almost 400 yards passing and 4 TDs to an overrated SC team. If they give up 400 yards in the air to a team like LSU or Auburn, they are going to lose no matter what Kenny Hill does.

Don't tell anyone from Aggy or the SEC... but there wasn't a Trophy presentation after the game.

12 games is a long way to go. Aggy probably isnt that good, but USCe probably is that bad.

One thing that did surprise me, after Thompson stunk the joint up, Spurrier didn't go to the backup QB. He loves rotating QBs
