Anytime someone releases one of these middle of the night statements it just shows how laughably out of touch they are. It's not 1974 anymore---you aren't burying your story after newspapers go to print. It's still going to be a huge story. It actually has the exact opposite effect that dirtbags like Brandon intend---not only will people still talk about the story, but it get even more attention that it would have otherwise b/c people will also talk about what a dirtbag you are for not just taking on the story head on.

I hope Brandon and Hoke get taken to task over this cowardly 1am press release by every sports media member and fan out there, and that no one lets that presser get forgotten like they hoped it would by releasing it in the middle of the night.

Fuck scUM.

If anybody has a subscription to gbw, I suggest you head on over and read the beav. He's spinning harder than I've ever seen. He's actually trying to sell that all of this is on the medical staff and that Brandon/Hoke are handling this correctly. It's amazing on so many levels.

Fun comments from the Detroit Free Press:

"More than 1,900 students had signed a petition asking for Brandon to be fired as of 10 a.m. Tuesday. A rally is planned for 6 p.m. today on campus to call for his firing.

U-M student body President Bobby Dishell told the Free Press that Brandon needs to be held accountable.

"This is Michigan, this is not a place where these kinds of mistakes should be happening. Michigan athletics has really lost a lot.

"The success (or lack of success) of the team isn't the issue. A lot of students feel we are pawns in a scheme to make the athletic department money.

"Students have thought the department placed the needs of the student-athletes above other students. Saturday's game goes to show they might not have student-athletes needs in mind."

In keeping with your contempt for ND, was there any similar student unrest there over Scissorliftgate or their other fiascoes.
