2014 TSUN Shenanigans and Arguments

405 ex-scUM players have signed a petition to oust Dave Brandon

#7 strikes me as odd: "7)Knew Les Miles and Jim Harbaugh wanted M job, never offered either" Why does Michigan believe that Jim Harbaugh's dream job is in Ann Arbor? He had nothing but negative comments about them in '07 and burned bridges at that time. Two HC positions have come and gone since then and he hasn't seemed interested. I get the feeling Michigan fans just assume he wants to return there despite his words and actions saying otherwise.

The Harbaugh fantasy is totally self-spun. He has never made any statements indicating he has interest in returning to tsun, only statements indicating the contrary. He's a highly successful NFL HC, who even if he parts with SF after this year will be in ridiculously high demand, and possibly in a position to be the highest paid HC in the league.

But the new fantasy is that John Harbaugh is going to leave the ratbirds over Rice-gate and come be their savior. They have a seriously distorted sense of self-worth.

This pretty much nails it.

If Michigan HC were the great job that idiot Michigan fans think it is, then they wouldn't have hired a woefully in-over-his-head HC from San Diego State with a sub .500 record last time around. Reality is a [censored].

The funny thing is, the RR hire in a vacuum looked like a coup for them. He was a hot young coach, was coming off three very-successfull years, and had flirted with bammer the year before. Of course, closer examination poked holes in it, but at the time he was a really big name. Then he was totally torpedoed by the vey people that should have been supporting him. The coaching fraternity is a very close knit one. Don't think good old RR wouldn't have a word with any big time guy that would even consider going there. They've boxed themselves into this "m*ch*g*n man" nonsense, and the only two that are worth a damn out there are extreme longshots. They've bumbled their way into a really dark corner.

Add in the absolute clown show that their athletic department, or more accurately athletic director has become, and it's hard to see them coming out of this for some time. Once thing they have always had was unwavering support from their fans/alumni. The pizza man has managed to seriously alienate those groups. They never had problems filling that toilet bowl even after RR went 8-16 his first two years. Now there are huge swaths of empty seats, and they're resorting to gimmicks to get people to the games. How do you think that makes the people that drop thousands of dollars on season tickets feel? Who would have thought a guy who made terrible pizza for years would fudge up an athletic department, or more importantly, its flagship program?

The Business Failures of the Michigan Athletic Department

...

The problem is the opposite of what most Michigan fans think — Dave Brandon’s problem isn’t that he’s running the team like a business; it’s that Brandon and many other athletic directors are absolutely terrible at running their businesses.

Fans don’t like to think of themselves as customers, but at the heart of it, they are. They’re purchasing the product that Michigan is offering, and the university has yet to prove that it cares about their enjoyment. Brandon has banked on the idea that Michigan fans will keep showing up because they’ve always shown up, and while loyalty is stronger in college football than in many other industries, it’s still baffling that an athletic department would feel so entitled to neglect its customers. And instead of putting resources back into gameday amenities, preserving old traditions, making tickets for young fans more affordable and upgrading the schedule, Michigan has decided to disregard the changes suggested by its customers.

Cont'd ...

TL;DR - Dave Brandon is running Michigan Athletics the exact same way he ran Domino's. No surprise.
