Perhaps a stupid question, but since they'll need permission from SanFran to talk to him anyway... could that process start as soon as they've decided they're moving on and negotiate deals (ie: now since they're eliminated from playoffs)? Or do NFL rules state they still have to wait to the end of the team's season?

I'm probably alone in this opinion, but I don't think that JH is all that. Yeah, he made the decision to bench Alex Smith and start CK, and they made the Super Bowl, BUT what have the 9ers actually done since? They've lost two NFCCGs, and then fell on their faces this year.

this guy is supposed to be a good to great offensive mind, yet he keeps calling pass plays when the makeup of that offense is to pound the ball. Idk if it's because he played QB or what, but he continually abandons the run. The 9ers are going to miss the playoffs this year. Because they're asking a running team to be a throwing team.

I kind of relish the idea of Hairball coaching the Blue, because I have no doubt that he will manage to A) fuck it up, and B) piss off everyone in the process.

Completely agree with you that he isn't the second coming of Walsh/Schembechler/Lombardi or anyone else. That said, he is by far the best candidate they have on their (realistic) list.

Not only would he not live up to the hype and expectations they're placing on him, and piss everyone off, he would be costing them a fortune in the process.

but the um slappies keep insisting he would never use tsun as leverge cause he loves tsun so much. ignoring all the reports from teammates of what an asshole he is and that he had no issue throwing his precious alma matar under the bus on academics unprompted when at stanford. he has no incentive beyond sentimetality for his school to end this charade until he can get the deal he wants with oakland/chicago/ny jests. whoever is fall back plan q had better beat at least one of osu/msu next year or they might not last to year two.

First thought: this was a well-placed leak to increase his leverage for an NFL gig.

I don't expect Harbaugh to make a move until after Black Monday, probably hear pitches from Miami/Oakland/Chicago and then go from there.

Hackett can cover his ass now and say that he did everything he could to bring Harbaugh if he ends up turning down the Wolverines.
