Politics are plaguing GBW as much as the coaching search. Sam Webb is now making Tom Beaver run posts past him to make sure they fit his unrivaled spin and homerism.

Search reporting refinement...

I've taken stock of the complaints on the board and will make the following amendment.

From now on reporting on the search will be presented by me. I'll be compiling everything we hear individually then will compare/contrast/check it before it's put on the board.

Opinions on the coaching candidates, the search, how it will wind up, etc will still be provided by all of us on the site.

Understand that this means you'll no longer hear everything we hear, but it will insure that you receive info that has been checked as thoroughly as possible at that time.

Their info has differed a bit during this search but this is becoming quite a kerfuffle.

I haven't spoken to him about it. But there's no need to.

I'm doing what I think is necessary to make sure we as a site are as clear and as accurate as possible.

I did tell him. I sent him a message about it before I posted how we are going to handle search reporting. I said I hadn't talked to him about my decision.

I signed on to run the site in May of 2013.

When I did, the team I asked them to provide me with consisted of Tom Beaver, Kyle Bogenschutz, and Josh Newkirk as full timers... and then a few part timers.

Agreed. It's ridiculous that Tom cant now give what he has heard now unless it jives with what Sam has heard. We're paying for information from everyone at the GBW and scout team who can possibly give it. Not just one person.

I'm sorry Sam but this sounds extremely selfish. Based on the comments this evening, a lot of paying members are not happy and could cancel their subscription. Scout could potentially lose a lot of money.

Sounds similar to what has been going on with Michigan Football the last few years.

My issue with "Search reporting refinement..."
In Sam's justification for this new policy, he quoted language from Tom that "things are progressing nicely" and his own source who told him that Harbaugh said he hadn't made a decision.

With due respect to Tom, his posts aren't always crystal clear ("Beaver-speak" is a thing after all) and interpretation of Tom's cryptic posts is part of the fun of being on this board, and frankly, it is just about the best source of information that a non-insider can have. Losing out on Tom's posts is going to substantially reduce the value of my subscription.

OK... people interpreted Tom's and Sam's posts as conflicting... What's the big deal?

In my explanation I think I laid out pretty clearly that you would have still gotten that piece of information. But it would have been presented in conjunction with the Harbaugh hasn't made up his mid information. I laid out that they actually weren't contradictory statements... that they merely interpreted that way because they were separate.

Well, we aren't going to have that problem on a topic this important anymore.

Haven't seen anything from Tom this evening, and noticed that he's not one of the names who's a moderator of the board at the bottom? Wonder if he was listed there previously?

Tom has been blunt and harsh with Hoke for the last year or two and has also been honest about how difficult it will be to land Jim. Meanwhile Sam has always been unbelievably homeristic and is well known for only quoting or reporting the side of things that fits his agenda (thing is there aren't better Michigan football sources out there so he stays atop the heap).

Tom has not posted since Sam went on his petty rampage. His name is also missing from the list of moderators at the bottom. This isn't the first time he's cleaned house over his ego.

Unbelievably stupid business decision and it will cost them dearly (especially with a fanbase that has been threatening or has already cut ties financially with the actual football team). His homerism needed to be balanced with a more realistic and pessimistic view (yes I realize that Tom can be a bit of a homer too).
