2014 TSUN Football News

Zurp, agree with you about the post-Carr numbers. Only ones that matter to me are the all-time tOSU - Meatchicken standings. We're still in a bit of a hole, but thanks to Tress and Urb I believe the Wolverweinnies won't be able to hold that over our head much longer!

Mike, I/we feel your pain. But hey, guy. Michigan lost two tons of talent from their bball team. Hope your 2's are ready for the spotlight....appreciate all your 'neutral' comments. Go Bucks

A losing season this year, another shellacking in the recruiting wars, a poor start in 2015 and a coaching search that won't be easy 'cause the cupboard is bare. Gonna be a good five years before they begin to comeback.

Unfortunately it also hurts the rest of the Big Ten.

osu will continue to out recruit them, but next season I believe the numbers finally open up some to where they can have a class of around 20 finally. So that should help. The talent is there, but the head coaching is suspect. I hope Coach Nuss can do something with the Borges train wreck. As in some games with positive rushing yards.

Did you even watch our last three games last year? Some of the worst play I've ever seen from a Buckeye secondary...

I think as bad as our play was those last 3 games, it was still better than what scUM had, as well as Nebraska, PSU and NW(northwestern went 1-7 in their last 8 games for Christ sakes). 3 games shouldn't be a basis, especially with our young depth(unproven yes, but so are most the teams ahead of us, scUM is #2 based off of a true frosh with no experience) that has arguably the most talent in the Big 10

Our passing defense was 110th in passing yards allowed, behind every B1G team except for Indiana (and Rutgers, before they joined). We were also 83rd in passfing efficiency defense, behind every B1G team except for Purdue, Indiana, and Illinois. In other words, the four teams you mentioned all finished ahead of us in both pass defense categories. With our loss of an All-American corner and both starting safeties, I'm surprised our secondary was rated even that high...

Yes, but preseason predictions are partly based on what happened the previous year and what the current roster and coaching situation is. Ours is much more positive than the teams ahead of us.
In 2012 our D line played pretty terrible, but yet in 2013 we had first year starters all along the D line and Bennett was coming off of an injury if I remember. Yet this same publication had OSU's D line ranked #1 going into last season. Same circumstances IMO. Its very weird that in his first year at a higher level, Peppers is supposed to make the scUM secondary that much better. Its not like he saw that many routes run in HS

OSU ranked a laughable 6 best of DB corps in the Big 10.

I'm sure that little nugget of information won't come up in any DB meetings between now and then.....maybe make an appearance or two on the bulletin board......If they can reap nay motivation at all from this ranking, then I'm more than fine with it.

And as others have said, it's not really even that unreasonable or laughable........

Yea I don't think we end up at 6, but based off of what we did last year, plus us losing both starting safeties (kind of: Bryant was hurt most of the year anyways) and our 1st round CB, it makes sense.

But 6? In the Big 10? The teams Ahead of us also lost players. I know we played pretty terrible last year in our secondary, but I figured wed get more of a benefit of the doubt then 6

You may have had your eyeballs burned out of your skull from last year, but you're understating how God awful we were. We were 110 in the country last year in pass defense....out of 123 teams. The only B1G teams worse were Indiana and Rutgers.
