2014 NCAA Basketball Tournament (official thread)

81-year-old woman refuses surgery until NCAA tourney game ends

I's March Madness, but one woman is taking it to another level.

With a collapsed lung and heading into surgery on Friday night, the 81-year-old Memphis fan wasn't going to let the doctors begin until she finished cheering on her Tigers in the NCAA tournament.

As she laid on the operating table in the emergency room, the medical staff joined her in watching Memphis beat George Washington 71-66 to advance to the third round.

No word on how the surgery went, but hopefully this true fan will be able to see Memphis attempt to upset No. 1 seed Virginia on Sunday.

Seriously. That place sounded as loud as the Kohl Center at times.

I was at the games last night. No doubt that the Bradley Center was loud. Very loud.

A few observations from the day. Got up there about an hour and a half before tip. Found our way to the Hoffbrau House for some beers. Open up the back door and a Wisky fan comes stumbling out. Looked like he was going to puke. Rookie.

Drank a few beers and off to the Bradley. Good seats. Top row of section 200 at exactly half court, right below the boxes. A couple of rows back and left from the Big Dog. He looked like he could probably take most kids on the floor to task.

*ichigan fans did not travel very well at all. Also fairly quiet all things considered. That is in contrast to the tourney a few years ago when we played up there. We had at least 3x showing in comparison. That said, the Wisky crowd buying all the tickets may have had something to do with it.

When Tejas band played their cheerleaders where on the screen...

When the *ichigan cheer leaders where on the floor and their band played, the band were on the screen. No joke.

Wisky fans were horrific. I didn't have the benefit of replay but the officials didn't seem as bad as the Wisky crowd would have suggested. They were loud and by half time, being down by 12 they were really pissy. The Grinch getting T'd up at the end of the first half really pushed the crowd over the edge. MPD ended up coming into our section during half to kinda keep an eye on things. There were some Wisky kids who were being real shits

Wisky cheerleaders on floor and the band playing, Wisky cheerleaders on the screen...

Oregon cheerleaders on the floor, what band? Those girls were on the screen all night long... If it was the Ducks v *ichigan, if the *ichigan band was playing, the Oregon cheerleaders would have been on the screen.

Second half was crazy. Wisky was a step slow in the first half but figured out a way to feed the paint in the second. Crazy comeback and it was, all things considered fun to watch in person. It was flipp'n loud though. Really frick'n loud.

The game also started getting all kinds if chippy. Pretty cheap foul at the end on Jackson... But the dude can stroke it from the line. Pure shooter there, but for whatever reason, didn't seem to have much of a shot behind the arc. He needs to spend the summer building an outside game.

On to the next round...

Me too, but Syracuse losing was more enjoyable than any bracket result. My brackets are set 'em, and forget 'em. I root for who I like, or against who I hate. Brackets be damned. :sneaky:
What will Dick Vitale have to scream about with Duke and Syracuse out? If Kentucky and North Carolina lose today a stillness may fall upon the land.

The bracket sure opened up for Dayton now too bad Ohio State couldn't have beat Dayton and Syracuse and would have had a shot against Stanford for another Elite 8.

Florida has to be happy right now and if SFA would somehow upset UCLA today Florida's path would be 16, 9, 12, 10/11 to the Final Four.
