Bob Ferguson
'60-'61 All Big Ten & All American
'61 Maxwell Award winner
I was on the Van Buren Junior High track team participating at the Troy Relays. Ferguson won the 100 and the 200 and anchored the winning 4 X 100. The discus was won by some tall dude from Middletown with great footwork named Jerry Lucas. This was still the era of cindertracks and so lots of us JH guys had to check out the starting blocks after the two sprints. Ferguson's blocks had plowed back four or five inches from the power of his take off - he ran something like a 10.2 in the 100 yard dash. On the bus ride back to Kettering we talked about what we would do if we found ourselves between him and the goal line. I thought the best thing to do was to faint.

Tim Spencer and Zach Boren saved 46 and 44 from being numbers where we are like, "OK. Next."

But I did really like Gary Williams back in the day.

I say, "OK. Next." on every single one of these guys. I check out this thread all the time, but I'll be saying that even when you're posting Mike Lanese, Bradley Roby, Dontre Wilson, Gary Berry, Boom Herron, and... you get the idea..."

FOOTBALL!!!!
